Berlin losing patience over Opel (GM) rescue

  1. Berlin is growing impatient with Opel, the German carmaker, and General Motors, its embattled US parent, for their failure to come up with a convincing restructuring plan, a condition for the state aid they are seeking.

    A meeting on Friday between top GM executives including Fritz Henderson, chief operating officer, Carl-Peter Forster, president of GM Europe, and Hans Demant, head of Opel, with Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, economics minister, brought little progress, a Berlin insider said.
