I don't either, that's why I would rank Belgium, Japan and Croatia as equal, I am not suggesting that the ability of the players on any of these teams is anything but world class, and certainly Croatia earned their place in the Final.

By anyone's standard, any of the teams that qualify for the world cup are a great team, and that's what makes it such a wonderful tournament to watch.

The contrast between Neymar and Mbappe is obvious, both are among the best players, but many would prefer Mbappe over Neymar because of Neymar's antics. It's gotten almost as ridiculous as Luis Suarez's ear biting.

  3. Copa America is 2019 so next year.

Sorry my sentence muddled two points in my head... I meant to say that Chile did not qualify for the World Cup and looked to be slipping giving Brazil a chance to win next Copa America and continue its resurgence. However what I wrote came out like a confused pile of garbage haha..... SORRY!

  4. Yes I think Mbappe has a pace that is on another level and defenses send 2 players to cover him. Neymer you can put one player on him and tackle the ball and begin your counterattack while he is on the ground sucking his thumb.

Mbappe does not yet have some of the finishing quality and tries to rely so much on his speed to do fancy moves but that is just his youth being 19. Another year or two of playing at the high level and he is just going to be so deadly. He will only get better as you cannot coach speed but he can learn to finish and cross like Ronaldo and just be a terror.... I think he needs to leave PSG though....Ligue 1 is not the place to grow (Neymar is finding that out...)

Very astute comments, though, I am not so convinced PSG is a bad fit for him right now. A lot of money has been poured into Paris -Saint Germaine and they have bought/are buying a lot of first rate players. What team and league do you think would be a better for him right now, at this stage of his career?

The things essential in my view to being able to grow as a player, is first, above all, to like your teammates and coach, and therefore want to play well, and want your teammates to play well; second, to always have someone a little better than you to play with, but it must be someone willing to share in the attention, someone who will encourage you and genuinely wants to see you grow and get still better. Someone who does not want to keep Mbappe in their shadow. When there is more than one highly paid star player on the team, jealousy can wreck team spirit. It's up to the coach to deal with this and not allow it. -- I think that may have been a problem for Neymar ; and finally, to have many opportunities to play against the best teams and best players. Perhaps the last requirement is going to be the most difficult to satisfy. Mbappe is a Paris boy. He is only nineteen. Perhaps PSG is not a bad fit for him right now. We will see. And in any case no one is going to ask for my opinion. And that's a good thing!

  6. I agree. He will stay at Paris another year or two and when his value hits $150 million Real or Barca will swoop in for him. I don't think the teams in premiere league are attractive for him or he wants to live in a shit cold town in northern England. Now PSG is obviously good enough to win its league with very little resistance from Monaco or Lyon. The goal is to go further in the Champion's League and for that PSG needs to maybe add more.

We will see. It is exciting to watch him play and I will definitely tune in to more PSG games. Neymar may be an attention whore on the field and that will open up more opportunities for Mbappe.

I agree his age may keep him in Paris longer where he is comfortable...
