You know, all that ancient civilisation stuff dug up, doesnt prove anything about God. It's very easy to claim 'biblical prophesy' proves God, but it doesn't. My argument has always been, we are reading a book in 2022 put together a few hundred years ago about events thousands of years ago. Who's to say these so called prophesies werent stitched in after the fact, and besides, imo, prophesies are like present day psychics/Astrology/Palm readers, just hit & miss guessing nonsense, a bit like predicting trading. I just refuse to believe in prophesies as a source of proof or enlightenment. So there was this ancient civilisation in the middle east where God was meant to have revealed himself. We live in a different age, a different civilisation, why can't the bible be binned and God reveal himself again anew? Wtf do we need God to reveal himself to the current world's generations via an old dodgy book pedalled by suited snakeoil salesmen who know zilch about history other than what was taught them by other snakeoil salesmen? I'm not buying the bs!
The bible is a circular thing, its full of shit but those who believe it go back to it to prove to the great unwashed that its true. Like saying in court, I have evidence which is true and I can prove it, via this evidence, "just take my word for it or shaddup".
If I were running a huge organisation and was interested in the welfare of the employees, I wouldn't be supplying a user manual, hundreds of years old, interpreted from another country and language. Just totally ludicrous what the christian organisation want people to swallow in terms of garbage.
Christians are insecure people clinging to straws. The evidence is flimsy, but like a straw in the water, it offers hope and for a drowning person that straw is better than nothing.
Thread title is wrong, everyone is born an atheist. Nobody is born with the knowledge of gods. For myself I actually have 2 religions, just to be on the safe side: 1. Mathology, a religion made by young Sheldon from Big Bang Theory, when he was 9. The only sin is being stupid. 2. I also worship the Sun god, Ra. I believe if the Sun doesn't come up tomorrow humankind cease to exist.
Lots of "couldas" instead of any factual evidence. Isn't it strange they can find actual evidence of older civilizations and even dinosaurs but no factual evidence of the Exodus?
You must not have watched the documentary. Not sure what you meant by coulda's. There have been some archaeological findings that line up with the Biblical record from before the Exodus as well as after. The documentary interviews many archaeologists and does a pretty good representation of both sides of the issue, in my opinion.
-No archaeological evidence: No ancient Egyptian records that talk about Hebrew slaves, evidence of migration, no records of Hebrew defeat of Egypt when usually records are kept of major battles, biblical details do not seem to match up with life in ancient Egypt, the population as stated in the Bible is too great to be real -From this contemporary rabbis conclude that the Exodus did not really happen. What these people in the doc have found are not indicative of a LARGE group of travelers. https://quizlet.com/232795435/jew-mid-term-flash-cards/
Nope. I'm trading at the moment. I did screen it a bit though and these folks are full of "couldas" is all. Nothing definitive. It coulda been this or it coulda been that is not evidence. They may have found a few pieces but nothing like what a large group would leave. Here's another fact, from Cairo to the West Bank it's a SIX DAY WALK!
