Its a well known feat of mankind, attend religous institution regularly (never mind what sect) and come out worse off than they went in.
Just look at some religious people, life is so serious they've forgotten how to laugh. :)

  2. How any intelligent person can believe any of the fantastic stories told in the book without one single shred of factual evidence is incribly unbelievable to me. If you had not heard of the bible until your adult life or had happened to have been born in the middle east somewhere, how would you react to the book? Be honest with yourself if you can't be honest with me...

  3. Did a talking serpent tell you this or was it the talking donkey? Maybe it was one of the zombies that arose from their graves when Jesus ascended. Kinda odd that no one, outside of the bible, ever mentions those walking dead...

  4. Btw, I didn't read your story. When it comes to fiction I prefer Stephen King...

First, covi. Prior - eternal politics. Now war. And here's religion and again - division.

I am beginning to understand that, the chances of meeting a person, where all of the perspectives would match, are, quite, slim.

You know, as a teenager, i would create video game servers, where i would spend the majority of time building the game world. Always something new.
The bad side was - couldn't stick to one project long enough.
But here's the kicker, other players/friends, care little to none about good or evil, politics or perspectives. They just wanted to be a part of this creation process, to build & to disscover.

Now, a life's mission dedicated to such aim, would be a life worth living. Have to figure this one out, completely.

The problem I have with the belief in deities is where to stop believing.

When I chat with people who believe in a conspiracy theory they often have to agree that they have no hard evidence. They assert this only confirms their theory - the absence of evidence is evidence of a cover-up, which is evidence that the theory must be true - why keep something secret which isn't true?

This leads logically to the question, "If you believe e.g. that the moon landings were a hoax - for which there is no hard evidence - what are the theories you don't believe?"

Once you start believing things that have no evidence to support them, its not possible to limit what things you believe in. But I guess that's where the bible comes in - there are no unicorns in the bible.

Although interestingly, the KJV Bible does mention Unicorns numerous times. :)

Considering how so called 'God’s Word' is supposed true in every detail, I think it fair to say as the Bible references many kinds of mythical creatures, in that regard at least, it does portray itself as fairy tale.

Some religious apologists excuse the Unicorns as a misunderstanding for rhinoceros. Of course they do :D

Maybe in those days it was reallly to do with the emergence of Evangelical RINOs

  9. There's tons of hard evidence for the moon landing. There is an incredible amount of blueprints, a launch and visual astronomer viewings of the event. It would be harder to fake the landing than to actually go to the moon...

  10. An entire nation exists today that has given recorded witness to how God worked with them. God has repeatedly told "the end from the beginning" and this has often been recorded in the Bible for later generations to benefit from. Anyone who wants a fair evaluation of evidence will have plenty to look at.
The "proof" I mentioned in an earlier post that the 10 commandments were written on stone by the finger of God was simply stemming from the fact of the recorded witness that there were millions of people that stood at the bottom of Mt. Sinai and actually heard God speak. This gives a credible background to these points:

    1. Moses went up to Mt. Sinai and survived without eating food or drinking water for 40 days, which is impossible without supernatural intervention.

    2. Although no one but Moses was directly given the tablets, both times it happened were events the Israelites observed from a distance. The first time is also evidenced by the fact that they had grown so tired of waiting for Moses to return that they decided to go back to idol worship.

MyJewishLearning.com has an article that makes this point very clear. Here is an excerpt from it, I added boldness for emphasis:

We the Jewish people make such a claim: Millions heard God speak. How could such a claim ever be accepted if it did not occur? At what point in history could any person ever come forward and say, “Hey, Jews your ancestors heard God speak!”

Our national response would have been: “I think we would have heard about it had it really occurred.”

This is true whether it happened a hundred, five hundred, or three thousand years ago. The claim is too strong–which may explain why no other religion has ever even attempted to make such a claim of the truth.

In addition to this, the video and article linked below also provide very solid reasons to believe the Bible is reliable and was given to us through men who were led by God.
