Not following my plan. My meals, while healthy, did include meat in a restaurant cooked dinner. My exercise has been, how shall I say, “deferred” until after the election. After the election, my exercise will be of a “Celebratory kind” with a new partner, leading to regular dedicated workouts.
Slow and steady is the path to victory. Intermittent fasting works, no need to go on day or two fasting. Try a 4 to 6 hour eating window, eat well balanced nutritious foods. Exercise. You'll never find the time for those 12 mile hikes to be consistent enough to do any good. Shorter time frames with intensity. I still recommend you look into shadow boxing with some limited resistance weight lifting. Stay committed, no excuses or distractions. You can do it.
Sorry to hear. As we had discussed, I was pushing the high fat/protein low sugar (with some leafy greens in there as carbs). I had begun this test around end of April this year. As a starting point, these were my blood test results taken Friday, May 15, and the results I just got back at end of October... May Oct Total Cholesterol: 198 183 (better) Triglycerides: 106 93 (better) HDL: 50 46 (worse) LDL: 127 118 (better) Glucose: 88 87 (better) I'll skip the other measures as they aren't relevant for purposes of the discussion. Additionally, I'll be taking blood results at the end of the year (my annual all-day executive physical where they poke and prod me is in four weeks) and post a follow up. I am continuing this diet as early indications shows it is working. I am also running around a 5K every other day, and still taking martial arts classes twice a week, though I teach one half of one of those classes. The other portions are heavy work outs. Additionally, I do the so-called "prison" workout on the off days of running (push ups, sit ups, planking, squats, etc). Though I started this specific diet in May, I had been doing this workout plan for well over two years now.
Total Cholesterol down to 177 (annual executive physical last week). The doctor even quoted Taubes and the book Good Calories, Bad Calories (which was a more technical rendition of "Why We Get Fat"). She brought it up.
Numbers look good. HDL dipped a bit to be honest but your overall numbers are good that it really should not raise a concern from your doctor. Surprising it dipped if you were focused on healthy fats but again, relative to those numbers really nothing to be worried about. Which martial arts are you training in if I may ask. Hung Gar Kung Fu here but was slightly interrupted by COVID and restrictions on class sizes so coming back slowly. I also do weapons trianing and iron palm to get my arms back to strength and to stop eating haha.
Not really... All of Hung gar's main forms are empty hand. Don't believe the Shaw Brother's movies . The Tiger and Crane form are all empty hand styles.
