Be warned... 24tb is the new 500gb

  1. I'm selling a 10TB dual Xeon box for roughly $2k. Thats pretty damm good IMO for 10TB and a backtest engine running on ssd.

  2. What is a "hard drive"?

    Mine was an Apple II+, with 48K RAM. That is "K" as in Kay, not Mag. And a 5 1/4-inch floppy drive (wow!). You boot from ROM, and load your app from floppies.

    10MB hard disk: full height 5 1/4-inch, (from IBM a few years later) was a huge wow for us.

    I am curious,

    Do you boot all your machines from the network share instead of from the local disk? What software do you use to monitor all the machines health, Nagios, etc?

  7. That sounds like a lot more than system logs. 500Gb/ day?

    My guess is you are a unit of government and you are mining every keystroke, attachment, etc. complete with stalking infrastructure to search for certain words and phrases.

    How close am I? :)
