    I'm presently watching this series (great in color btw) again, and one thing just jumps out: nothing has really changed. It's still the left (communists) vs. the right (facists). It's still "your guy is 10 times worse than my guy", still "my issue is 10 times more important than your issue", etc. It's still isolationism vs. interventionism. Still borrowing huge sums of money to wage war. It's still man preying on man (we in the West are more covert now than we were in those days, mostly). You see leaders firing up the people with emotion and rhetoric alone.

    I was also struck by Churchill, initially hated, who was an aristocrat without business experience, and who read his speeches from a teleprompter (paper notes in those days). : )
