Barr lied

  1. Sorry but that would not be a constitutional crisis either. It would be the constitution working exactly as intended by the drafters. The three branches are co-equal. The judicial branch does not rule over the executive, despite the delusions of some federal judges.

It would hardly be unprecedented for a President to thumb his nose at a judicial ruling. If congress objects, they have the impeachment power, they have the confirmation power and they have the power of the purse.

  2. Alright well, my point was that the current situation is just one more court case in the passing parade. Your points are valid but an actual impeachment etc would be a higher order kerfluffle that probably is worthy of lot of histrionics on both sides. We are not there yet so they need to put a lid on it. I am hearing "constitutional crisis" on a dozen issues now. All basically just bullshit legal cases that will or will not go in one side's favor. It is sort of the legal version of how the climate change debate is handled. We are all going to die if we don't ban plastic straws. As I said, tampon-based comments.

    "rule over" ??

I'll just say this, (rather than seek a definition of your phrase): The Courts can issue orders to any entity--including those within the executive branch.

The Executive branch enforces laws. It doesn't have the final say in the interpretation of laws; the Courts do. (Congress makes laws.)

We have a problem if the Executive branch believes it has the final say with regard to interpretation.

Don't forget that the Court can also object...and hold someone in contempt.

Wonder if/when disbarment complaints will start to be filed against the individual lawyers that are advising clients to break the law. I bet that would stop a lot of this nonsense.

The proper response in objection to a subpoena is not simply to ignore it.

FBI's Steele story falls apart: False intel and media contacts were flagged before FISA

The concerns were flagged in a typed memo and in handwritten notestaken by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec on Oct. 11, 2016.

Her observations were recorded exactly 10 days before the FBI used Steele and his infamous dossier to justify securing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to spy on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and the campaign’s contacts with Russia in search of a now debunked collusion theory.

It is important to note that the FBI swore on Oct. 21, 2016, to the FISA judges that Steele’s “reporting has been corroborated and used in criminal proceedings” and the FBI has determined him to be “reliable” and was “unaware of any derogatory information pertaining” to their informant, who simultaneously worked for Fusion GPS, the firm paid bythe Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Clinton campaign to find Russian dirt on Trump.

That’s a pretty remarkable declaration in Footnote 5 on Page 15 of the FISA application, since Kavalec apparently needed just a single encounter with Steele at State to find one of his key claims about Trump-Russia collusion was blatantly false.

"It appears Steele’s sources, most of whom were former and current Russian spies, gave him disinformation to tarnish the Trump campaign and create chaos in U.S."

Docs Reveal FBI Allowed British Spy’s False Intel To Guide Bureau’s Operation Against Trump

According to a memo obtained by Citizens United, Steele confessed in a meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec that his dossier was in fact political and he was planning on releasing before the November presidential elections. The meeting with Kavalec took place on Oct. 11, 2016 and it was during that meeting that Steele revealed his intentions. She documented the meeting and the discussion in her notes.

The evidence sheds light on the FBI’s knowledge of what Steele’s intentions were when he compiled the dossier in the summer of 2016. Not only did they know his intentions but they ignored the fact that a good bulk of what he shared with the U.S. government was flat out wrong.

Most of the information contained in the dossier has been proven false.

  8. The whole scenario is just a mindboggling clown show.

The most senior counterintelligence officer/section director was Bruce Ohr. His wife, Nellie, was working on opposition research with Fusion GPS to find dirt on Trump and to develop the dossier.

Steele was a former FBI informant on the payroll but then he severed and - surprise, surprise- went to work with Nellie at Fusion GPS which was jointly funded by the Clinton Campaign. Both Page and James Baker (Comey;s chief counsel) testified they were in the room when Comey, McCabe and Ohr discussed the dossier and they both said they had direct knowledge that Steele was continuing to meet with Ohr after he was allegedly fired by the FBI.

So the media and the dems and other trance-state types have this fake dialogue going about whether senior fbi officials knew about the dossier and its origins and steele's involvement etc. Keep in mind too that one of Page's texts reminded Strzok that Obama "wants to be kept informed of everything we are doing."

And now we have on record a copy of notes from the Assistant Secretary of State saying that Steele showed up and had some shit that he needed to have dumped out to the media before the election. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!! Not something you see in a legit investigation. He was on the payroll of the opposition candidate or if he was still on the FBI payroll at the time (I have not charted out the timeline) that is even less pretty.

It's all bullshit on steroids. Just total, total, total, total trance-state bullshit.
