    Barclays PLC's loan book is in the final stages of
    an extreme stress test by the U.K.'s Financial Services Authority, the Financial Times reported on its Web site Thursday, without citing sources.
    The regulator will conclude the testing of the bank's books - designed to ensure a bank can survive a severe economic downturn - in the next few days. There are indications Barclays doesn't need any fresh capital, the FT reported.
    Barclays must decide by Tuesday whether to accept government help through the Treasury's toxic asset insurance scheme, the newspaper said.
