For the Repubs, the real issue is defense spending. They could keep their stance on taxes if they closed down a bunch of bases and downsized the military like they should.

    Spot on about the Dems.

  2. How long do you think the FED can keep this downward grind controlled?

  3. whew! Had a very bad day in the market Friday (if you call just sitting there doing nothing watching your account dwindle trading) and took the old man's advice and walked across the street and bought a bottle of that good old Kentucky Whiskey.

It's amazing how smart you become once you start pouring that down your throat. I see many have posted here since I passed out.

Now that I am of sound mind and body I see one thing is evident. We like to talk about what we "should" do, but nothing on a big scale in the world ever gets done until it becomes a crisis and there is no debate and both sides must agree.

and in most cases it involves just flat running out of money (even money you can print) but more importantly, social unrest.

I can see someday some historian writing, "It started out innocently enough, just some crazy people parading and protesting on Wall Street."

  6. Another thing that's always interesting is to see what emotions people like you attribute to me. It's like a mirror into your souls.

Also interesting is that you assume I'm white. What, no non-whites make 6 figures and live in NYC? How do you know I'm not a non-white who just doesn't buy into the plantation mentality the Left wants to impose on me? Boy, what a racist you are.

Again, dude, let me break it down for you. People with a lot of money have voluntarily paid me a salary that is in the top quintile of salaries in the US for nearly a decade. Would they do that if I was "not too bright"? I know you want to say yes because you disagree with my political views, but put aside your ideology (assuming you are capable of doing so) for a second and answer the question rationally. You are just like every other liberal loser who seems to think that just because you believe what you believe, it makes you smarter than everyone else. It doesn't. What makes you smarter than everyone else is being smarter than everyone else in ways that are measurable, like standardized tests and compensation. Claiming superiority based on non-measurable sh!t is for losers. Winners point to tangible facts and realities. I realize that doesn't comport with your little version of reality you've got going for yourself, but the fact of the matter is that what I'm saying is true. To take it even further, if it weren't for this website and forum, a person like you would never even get to talk to someone as far above you in social status as me. Unless you were catering a party I was at and I felt the urge to strike up a conversation with the help.

And guess what, bro, if I wanted to be "rich" in the way you are, I could. All I'd have to do is move to the countryside. But, just from the way you write in your posts, I can tell that the reverse isn't true. You couldn't come to NYC and be successful. You're too much of a dumbass.

  7. LOGIC MAN TAKES WALK THROUGH CENTRAL PARK

This is my new idea for a documentary. You get a film guy to follow you around and you have little microphone and you just comment on everything and everyone you see.

The level of disgust you can rise to cracks me up.

Stick with me man and we can turn that 6 figures to 7 figures.

  8. What can I say, it's what I do.

I spent my youth studying the Classics (Plato, Aristotle et al), so I have little patience for modern stupidity.

Wasn't the National US debt about $3 trillion after that idiot Bush left the White House ?

    and now

It's in the $16 trillion area. Why can't US Presidents understand the simple idea of over spending ? Do they really think they have unlimited wealth ?
O.K. so there was some provocation in 9/11, but what's the point of throwing all your money at the problem and losing it. Then borrowing and losing that as well. In poker it is a well recognised condition that affects amateurs with little self control.

  10. What I think would be a reasonable idea is to limit the growth of government spending to some objective metric like population growth. Anything above that rate of growth would require a supermajority in Congress.

It's not that government shouldn't grow as the economy gets bigger, it's that government shouldn't grow faster than the rest of the economy. As anyone who's ever done an equity valuation on a discounted cash flow basis will tell you, eventually that would mean the government becomes the entire economy. Unless you are a hard-core Communist, you can't possibly think that's a good idea.
