Every firearm that gets into a bad guy's hands began its existence as a legally manufactured and legally sold firearm. The problem is the leakage from the legal pool of firearms. If we could get the NRA to stop interpreting every proposal to stem that leakage as a step towards banning firearms, it would help immensely.
Total statisical manipulation. This includes suicides, which is silly. If people want to kill themselves, and you remove their guns, they'll just do something else (overdose, hanging, whatever). Removal of suicides makes death by cars FAR higher.
It appears you have been missing the news out of Bradford in the 2006-2015 time frame. The reason to use armored cars is because they protect against more than guns. For example it stops scenarios common in Bradford where the perps throw a large rock through the window, injuring the driver and stopping the car. The robbers would then drag the occupants out of the car, using weapons to injury them while robbing them. Many times the car was jacked also. Of course most cars in Bradford are jacked at gunpoint - making your comment about being shot absurd. (Google Bradford UK car jackings) This continues to be a problem 2015 - Woman carjacked at gunpoint - http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/12893945.Inquiry_continues_after_car_jacking/?ref=mr This is why armored cars used as limos are common in bad areas in the U.K. - armored glass, armored bodies, and puncture proof tires does more than protect from bullets - and criminals with guns are a significant problem in the U.K.
Don't you just love it when some left-wing nutcase from Europe tries to tell us how to run this country? While this country ain't what it used to be, the possession of guns has nothing to do with it. How's that little muslim refugee thing working out over there?
I would also note that banning guns does not reduce suicides. The people just find another way of killing themselves. This is demonstrated in countries that banned guns and the before/after effect on suicide rates (which did not change). No guns, then they use pills, jumping, slitting wrists, etc. The number of gun homicides in the U.S. is around 11,208 or so. The number of deaths by motor vehicles is around 32,719 (2013). The automobile death number is three times higher than the homicide gun death number in the U.S. The 20,000 people who commit suicide using a gun would simply find another way of committing suicide if guns were banned.
If it wasn't for the USA, the people in Europe wouldn't even be allowed access to be posting on the internet.
Thank you for clarifying. I was thin on facts and you were and are better informed. I still think your post may have exaggerated the severity of things there.
