Bank deposit question

  1. Sure, that could be a flaw, although I imagine that's just a few extra basis points on the realized default rate... As I said, I like the idea enough that I am happy to subsidise.
Your art? I would have gone for modesty, amico :).

In seriousness, I do enjoy what I do, for sure, but I wouldn't for a moment imagine that I have some sort of a special genetic pre-disposition that means that I was destined to become some sort of a god of finance. In fact, while enjoying what I do, I fully realize that finance and economics are, by and large, a trivial mixture of basic psychology and (at best) high-school calculus. It's hardly an intellectual challenge along the lines of rocket engineering. So I think I'd best leave you alone with your art out there, sire.

No you have completely missed the point. You think that I mean it as a point of social dominance or a greater ability or destine that I must forefill. It is a passion not a duty. This is point I am making it is the pursuit of the subject and the way it operates that is my passion not the prestige the money or anything else for that matter.

The concept of money the way it flows the operations of market are an artform to me. Like when you look at a masterpeice by a artist you like. It is is appreciate and the interaction that is to me the art. Yes the subject is not that difficult in parts but the interaction with it to me is like an artist and oil paint.

This is where the genetic predisposition lies and that is what I am pertaining to. Your answer to me makes me think that you look at it as a thing prestige that is why you think I look at it that way.

Do you understand what I mean now?

So why do you think that is somehow pretentious. It is my method of expression and there seems to be a genetic predisposition to me. Calling it my art is merely the best explanation I can give to that. I wish that everyone could see it that way, it is truely a beautiful masterpiece like no other.

Exactly my point. There are countless people working in X industry who come from a gene pool where an ancestor was successful in industry X but they are still working for the man. Genetics and opportunity are poor predictors of success but obviously it's better to have these traits.

I guess it depends on how strong the genes are. Or how limited the opportunities are.

  7. So where's your masterpiece?

Because people who talk about their art without having produced any art... are, I believe, termed pretentious.

Show us your work. Not just talk about the work that might exist in some lockbox because they have great 'commercial value' (as you often claimed). But show us - after all, you are in it for the art, no?

Most of the greats are not appreciated in their life time.

  9. Is it possible to be an "ungreat" and pine away quietly waiting for your destiny? Be successful to slap all of the naysayers in their face?

  10. This thread is entertaining. Some people lack the comprehension to understand the little details of your statements.
