So in the spirit of debauchery, I have to bring up the Baltic Wet Index...

When world was on fire back in 2008, all sorts of signs were coming up and circulating through Bloomberg message. So one day I get a message about the Baltic Dry, how it's dropping and it spells the apocalypse three ways around. Literally right next second I get a call from a broker who kept going back to Estonia for "da ladies" telling me that prostitutes got much cheaper.

If you subscribe to the "any publicity is good publicity" school of thought I feel like you could go a long way starting a Case-Shiller type company that publishes indexes on things like regional prostitution prices and weed prices in places where such things are legal. I'm thinking you could data mine all kinds of correlations to toss out there and the popular financial press would eat it up.

I would imagine that these are mostly OTC markets, right? :)
