Baltic dry index Contracts/Fut

  1. Hi

    Is it possible to trade contracts,/Futures in the Baltic dry index, or other tank indexes/Rates??

    Tank rates have a VERY high level of Volatility.

    Mostly a hedging market. Very low volume and not quite sure how you become a member. but the link above provides some details.
    Over 2 billion notional on under 2k contracts. wow.
     
  3. It's possible that the freight rates correlate strongly to the CRB index and crude oil. You're probably better off trading those instead as a proxy.

    If you don't mind trading stocks. You can trade DRYS or EXM, these are pretty much following tanker rates.
