Is there still any ET member in the Bahamas? Just to be sure, I was wondering if someone with a EU passport could really take full advantage of the absence of taxes in the Bahamas . If there is no tax treaty between your home country and the Bahamas, isn't your home country going to tax you even if you stay there 183 days per year or more?
Hi metooxx Good to have you back. I suppose your reply means that there IS a treaty between every EU country and the Bahamas (?) I should be the one to know but don't, sorry I actually sent you a PM with a few questions last week. Did you ever get it?
Not referring to treaty; if you are not resident in an EU country you typically have no tax obligation. I will check old PMs; maybe I missed it ...
Thanks for your reply metooxx. The more I learn about it the more I think I will enjoy living there. I just hope Amazon.com ships there. It Doesn't look like it: Countries and Territories Included in the Atlantic, Caribbean & Other Islands Shipping Region Anguilla Antarctica Aruba Bermuda British Indian Ocean Territory French Southern Territories Heard and McDonald Islands Martinique Norfolk Island St. Pierre and Miquelon Tokelau Virgin Islands (British) Wallis and Futuna Islands
Maybe I can move there after college Sounds like a great place to trade/live. I've been to dominican and virgins but never to bahamas
Bahamas or Caymans; Bahamas have better infrastructure and are cheaper. Panama is too third world ... Have you lived in Panama? I've been seriously considering it for a while. In contrast to island life, Panama has the breathing room I need. How many people live on your island? How big is the island in comparison to Great Britain?
