There is no need to move to the Bahamas when you can live in the Keyes. The Bahamas are a couple of hours by boat from here and as far as the daily conveniences of living, you have all and a lot more here than the Bahamas. No comparison and remember who runs the Bahamas. As far as taxes are concerned, I will sum up for you - you cannot legally save yourself from Uncle Sam. You are always taxed on any income, anywhere in the world as a US citizen. The gimmicks you hear here are just that and they are dangerous. Would not suggest it, there are better ways. So if you like beaches, sunny weather, trade winds, women, booze etc. the best islands in the world are right here in the Keyes and you are in States. I have travelled all over the world and I can assure you there is no better place than here. The Bahamas are nice, but only for a quick weekend boat trip.
Does the Florida Keys have that crystal clear water? That's one of the best things about the Bahamas.
Metooxx, could you please explain the bigger game you are referring too? Great thread btw... Thanks for you response
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from nitro: metoo - you are moving once again? WHY? BTW, I was listening to one of those hearings and the question of the $80k exemption came up. The Senator (I forget from where) REALLY wants to get rid of i t. If they repeal that, does the monetary reason for beeing outside the US become less so? nitro -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Haven't decided when; but why not. No; there is a bigger game than that ... This is a repost, I wanted to add the context of what Nitro said above to my last post asking what the bigger game was...cheers
