Bad Economics: College degree’s & Income inequality

Discussion in 'Economics' started by Innervoice, Feb 14, 2023.

  1. Professional or career education is good. But education for its own sake is not necessarily bad.

Perhaps you just didn't appreciate the irony of a borderline illiterate complaining about the uselessness of education.

The problem is too many people are going to college and getting useless degree’s. Once they get a useless degree and cant find a job or they get a low paying job, they start screaming “ income inequality” when they should be screaming “ i should of got a better degree”.
The reason many people choose useless majors is because they are easy and must less challenging than a degree that has merit.
The political left love to throw around “Income inequality” when in fact its bad decision making.
Why so many useless degrees besides the fact that they are easy to get ? Because the government pays for almost anyone with a pulse to go to college even if they have poor high school grades and low test scores.

Life is complicated except for those who have simple  solutions ... that somehow are never implemented.

Nope. Quite the opposite. America needs skilled, technical workers. (somebody needs to clean the shit too) Plumbers get 20-40$/hour, master plumber 41K to 91K annual salary. The best part? Their job can not be outsourced to India or China. Certain skilled jobs only need 6-12 months learning, so why a college student spends an extra 3 years of paying for room and board and tuition, the skilled worker is already earning money. Even if the average college job earns more, it takes a good 8-10 years to catch up. And who is to say your college degree job will be there 5 years from now?

I am not against going to college if someone has the time, inclination and money. (daddy's money, that is) But if you have to get a student loan to get a social studies degree, you may as well put a rope around your neck with a large stone and look for the closest bridge.

    Degree =/= Knowledge

If you just want knowledge, there is this new thingy called the interwebs. If you want to find friends, get a few dogs.

No need to go into 100K debt for a degree you never going to use, that is my point.

This reminds me of my neighbors. Loving parents who respected and paid for their daughters education choices. Both parents are in finance (university professor and an advisor), one of their daughter did a social studies in a liberal west coast school and then wanted to do a Masters in an obscure period of American history from an expensive liberal college back East. Parents were worried and frustrated about their whimsical daughter but despite their grumble paid for it.
Shortly after graduating she became a curator for the Smithsonian and a lecturer at a NYC university. She's now pursuing a PhD with her own income. She's never going to be wealthy, but she followed her bliss, thanks to her parents who carried alone the burden that the nation should have shared to make our population aspire to more than cleaning sewers.

I don't have a problem with grammar... I really don't care about grammar or universities.

I never studied English for a single day of my life. I learned what I know by myself at an adult age. Unlike innershit who is probably born and bread in an English speaking country, attended some school (I guess) and can't even put a sentence togheter.

It's spineless racist pieces of shit like innervoice that raises my blood pressure.

Racism only exist in ignorant inbreed idiot minds, like innershit.
I guess a black man with a huge cock fucked him in the ass without vaseline when he/she/it (@Innervoice) spent his last weekend in a cell, and he is still sore.
