backtesting discretionary system

  1. I'm looking for software to backtest different money management strategies on my discretionary system.

Most software doesn't seem to offer a feature allowing me to import my trade log (I log in excel) and then backtest different strategies on this.

In addition to the backtesting of different money management strategies on discretionary trades recorded manually, I would also like to be testing mechanical ideas.

What exactly are my options (I've looked at Ninjatrader and wealth-lab but they both don't seem to offer this).

You can test the money management with Adaptrade Software MSA. www.adaptrade.com

  3. Have you taken a look at Multicharts? Its back-testing engine is more powerful than TradeStation and has some cool money management routines.

Any reason Wealth-lab didn't work for your testing?

Wealth-lab would appear to be a good match as it has the ability to add money management rules. I haven't worked with version 5, just 3 and 4.
