    A very, very small percentage of the 86,000 H1-B Visa holders yearly come directly out of U.S. based universities currently. The huge majority are sent to consulting assignments in the U.S. from overseas.

    In the banks I recently worked in doing IT we did not have a single H1-B worker who was educated in the U.S. Previously during the years that I worked for a large networking company I did not encounter a single H1-B Visa worker who was educated in the U.S.

    30 years ago many of the H1-B Visa holders came out of U.S. universities - this is no longer true.

    Read my posts above. Bottom line - employers in the U.S. are bringing on H1-B visa workers (and other Visa types) because they are cheaper NOT because they have more skills than many U.S. Tech workers. Many of the companies laying off U.S. tech workers like mad are the same ones bringing in a large numbers of H1-B Visa workers each year.

    If you want to stop this situation then change the Visa requirements so a Visa worker can work at any company in the U.S. during the Visa period. This would put an end to the indentured servitude situation that is currently in place which depresses tech sector salaries, and allow visa holders to move to the company down the road that pays a higher salary.

    Off topic: No we are not "all immigrants". This "nation of immigrants" meme is a perversion of the definition of 'immigrant' pushed by the pro-immigration activists. No modern nation is a nation of immigrants, not even Israel anymore (it's been three generations since the founding of Israel in the late Forties)

    Having immigrants in your ancestry doesn't make you an immigrant. Get familiar with the correct definition. The USA is not a nation of immigrants, it is a nation of Americans. Canada is not a nation of immigrants, it is a nation of Canadians. And so on.

    Stupid poster. The USA wasn't founded by Native Americans. What was done to Native Americans (and others) was evil but guess what? Nobody is going to unring that bell and dissolve the USA. So get over it.

    Furthermore I'm not an immigrant. The vast majority of Americans aren't immigrants. That's why the "nation of immigrants" meme makes no sense. Having immigrants in your ancestry (distant ancestry in my case) doesn't make you an immigrant. Nor does it obligate you to be pro-immigration. That's what drinking the immigration lobbyist koolaid does.

  6. No, that's not it at all. The difference is that most of those jobs were being transferred to other Americans, not completely taken away by foreigners on H1 work visas.

    You need to go back to your other career of making meaningless posts about Bright Trading. That's a better fit for you

  7. Man, you know that people whose ancestors come from the low of the low of another continent, do not to be reminded of that.

    Man , expect the hate.

  8. I'm sorry, but if there's one thing you guys can do is at least respect native americans. Not immigrants, give me a freaking break. What's next, winning the world cup soccer?

  9. Do not worry : what you are saying is actually very exact.
    Many people do not know/realise that they actually come from the low of Europe.
    It is a chance for them to find out more about EU history.
    For those interested :

    * Scottish highland clearances

    * English trash ( prostitutes, murderers ) sent to Australia, America, etc... rather than
    facing death by execution.

    * Periods of European famines

  10. This is the benefit of travelling and "living like locals", being open about folklores and local history. I would have never learned about "highland clearances" or potato famines.

    potato famines

    highland clearances ( sheep were more profitable than humans).
