Idiot. It was the min wage for young workers under 18. I was 16 working at a resturaunt.
Here's one of my pay stubs....16.10 hours, $16.10 paycheck.

I’m actually impressed you have a pay stub from 1969. Good for you.

We don’t have an age dependent minimum wage today so comparing that minimum wage to today doesn’t make sense. All official reporting of minimum wage from 1969 report it at $1.60, or $11.11 in today’s money.

    https://www.dol.gov/whd/minwage/chart.htm

There is some talk of making the minimum wage age dependent again but I think don’t think that is going anywhere.

As to calling me an idiot. I don’t mind some going back and forth but I do not suffer insults. Call me an idiot again and you’re going on ignore.

It is mathematics, but not the voodoo that you do...
Govt cutting spending is the only real solution here - not stealing more from the wealthy via income taxes, and stealing from the middle class via inflation.

and like you say - the odds of that happening are slim and none - and slim just left town...

Not sure why people can't comprehend that government confiscating 6 months of a person's wages and profits is the antithesis of America's greatness.

Slim never was in town. The funny thing is spending was more restrained under Obama than it had been ever in my lifetime. Now we are looking at a mess worse than ever. Pumped up spending compounded by cut taxes.

Needless to say, you’re a fiscal deadender. You know spending is shot but insist on tax cuts. What do you actually think the outcome of that is other total economic destruction.

And this the problem with right wingers, you guys don’t have enough sense to see the policies you support are absolutely destructive.

Not my experience at all. Must be who you know or a US thing. However, you cannot ignore that under heavy Baby Boomer influence the US has allowed the federal debt to rise to record levels ( vs GDP ), loans many young people have to pay to go to school are obscene, and the stable career paths many Baby Boomers had in the past don't really exist any more. It seems morally wrong to slam an entire generation just starting out while at the same time failing to pay your bills as a generation and passing them on to the very people you are complaining about. It's also absurd.

It was interesting to see an age dependent minimum wage pay stub. However, the standing minimum wage for those days was $1.60 for adult workers and that is what we are talking about.

You can pay different wages on farms and in restaurants today, that doesn’t define minimum wage either.

    Hilarious.

He wasn't the worse in terms of percentages, but, to call it restrained is nothing more than partisan hackery...

Just because he danced on Ellen doesn't make him a fiscal conservative.
He did double the national debt in 8 years...like a Moore's law for retarded economists...

Trump is doing no better in this department....and no Conservative will defend increased spending.

At the same time, reducing the confiscated wealth of a country's citizenry, at the very least, is the best thing he can do.

Let the people keep their money.

I will always support anyone who offers tax cuts over someone who opines that stealing more of my money is a good thing.

Leftists suddenly become so spendthrift when a Republican is overspending...but cheers loudly when it's a democrat.

You should definitely give more of your income to the Federal coffers, though.
    Someone, somewhere, will appreciate it.

how does cutting taxes and unleashing and economic boom for close to 30 years... create a a wealth gap?

this is disgusting propganda from the left.

    1. the bottom half of our country does not pay income taxes so income taxes are not causing them issues.
    2. There are 40 to 60 million new Americans since Reagan depending on if you count anchor babies. Many of them use govt assistance and many of them are at the bottom of the wealth gap. The working ones also hold down wages in many industries especially the tech industry.

So again how are tax cuts causing the problem.

    3. Finally, those who do work and save have experienced massive inflation since Reagan and its very hard to stay ahead of inflation without tons of real assets. The inflation is caused by the trillions of dollars printed by the Federal Reserve. There is strong world wide demand for a dollar. By printing trillions of dollars the FED has transferred wealth from the working class to the elite and cronies.

Again... the democrats work for the Fed throughout history while republicans worked for oil and exporters. Now the establishment also works for the bankers.

    ==
So blaming Reagan for that is ridiculous. he did not cause inflation the FED did.

I could go on... .but it drives me nuts that lefties blamed their failures on tax cuts.
Tax revenues went up after reagans tax cuts and the economy boomed. Some of it may have been govt spending. But govt spending always goes up.

We are paying $.60 for $1.00 of government right now. It’s not about being a spendthrift, it’s about acknowledging the situation on the ground.

You admit there is no chance of cutting spending but advocate for tax cuts at the same time as if that is not ruinous. You have a failed budgetary philosophy.

You can dance around it but you are, by default, in the “deficits don’t matter” crowd. Totally reckless.
