The civil rights act of 1964 was passed, well, in 1964. The baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. Thank a member of the greatest generation for civil rights.

Your dime isn’t the issue. You probably pay too much taxes and your effective rate is probably already low. It’s the wealthy that aren’t paying and they are sucking wealth from working people. And I don’t mean the household making $250k, I mean the high millionaires and billionaires.

You have to understand fiat money is based on the value of a good or service. Not gold or anything like that. Goods and services are mostly provided by middle class workers. The more money, or value of a good or service, we give to the people that don’t do the work (ie millionaire and billionaire investors and the like) the less people’s work is worth. The less their work is worth, the less wealth they have, the less wealth they have the more debt they take on and the further they are away from financial security. The more insecure the middle class is, the more insecure our consumer based economy is.

Our froggy friend posted a picture of poverty in Venezuela. Venezuela has a lot of problems, mostly that they have a huge wealth gap and a small middle class. Now their government has set those conditions mostly but the US was very similar to poverty levels prior to the 1950s. It wasn’t always Coca Cola and Levittown in America. There used to be a huge wealth gap here too and we weren’t socialist then either.

  2. Let's just say that there is a lot less wealth to be distributed these days in Venezuela, even if it were to be equitably distributed, whatever "equitably" means.

Quick refresher course here for you from Margaret Thatcher.

I don’t need pithy talking points. People using YouTube videos of Margaret Thatcher and the lime is the weak thinking that got us in this mess.

    Try thinking for yourself.

Ugh it’s talking points like these that are just the very definition of people who don’t think for themselves.

The rich pay FAR more in taxes than they should.

250k+ earners pay 52% of all income taxes though they account for less than 3% of all payers.
The top 0.1% of families pay the equivalent of 39.2%
    Check Pew.

In Canada it’s even worse than in the US.

This the one I used. BTW, I have 9 nephews and nieces aged 24-32, all are successful and they don't bitch about life like you do.

  6. Bomers were the largest generation. They paid the most taxes by a HUGE margin. Their taxes and entrepreneurship BUILT this country.

Any bitches namby-pamby millenials think they have against the Boomers should be directed at the POLITICANS!

I never even heard of an incident where the Boomers "campaigned for a benefit and demanded it be charged to their kids or grand kids". The politicos, however, misspent Social Security and tax money willy-nilly to garner political support. THE POLITICIANS HOSED EVERYBODY!!

It depends on what your end goal is. If your end goal is massive deficits and crushing debt then you’re right but if you’re goal of stable budgets then you’re wrong.

I will preface this next statement with saying we all know no political party is cutting spending. If you believe one way or the other then you’re brainwashed.

Now, for the past 30+ years middle and working class incomes have been flat even though the economy has grown. The wealthiest households have reaped literally all of the growth. We are not getting the tax support for government because the wealth has become more concentrated in the upper income households.

And of course these households pay most of the taxes. The top one percent have more wealth than the bottom 70 percent (or something like that).

It’s mathematics. Now we know tax cuts do not trickle down. We have been cutting taxes on the wealthy for decades and middle class wages are stagnant. So unless you’re completely reckless and don’t care about financial ruin is to tax the upper income households more.

So the minimum wage in 1969 was not $1. Try inputting the actual minimum wage for 1969.

I ain’t complaining about life. I’m gen x. When I went to school it was still cheap and I did well and paid for my masters degree without any loans.

Perhaps your nieces and nephews are doing well and many other millennials have great jobs with good salaries, that’s not the problem. The problem is the debt many of the millennials carry hinder their ability to buy a house and delay things like marriage and children.

Most of our failed policies can be traced to the Republican embrace of Reaganomics. It’s voo doo and the main reason why we have a massive deficit.

Now boomers are responsible by way of the ballot box in electing these politicians and supporting these policies. Also, the war on unions has had a negative impact on wage earners and is another contributing factor to wage stagnation.
