AZO beats estimates and dive bombs

  1. Ok, who unloaded?
Was that an institutional sell off or what?
Or was there something else in the news?

  2. 20ma crossed 40ma on the daily chart on 12/02, so downtrend began 10 days ago.

good news today may be seen as "good news out now"

  3. 4X volume and one of the biggest candles in a long time.
Everyone ganged up at once and pounded it in one
day, or some large entity dumped liked crazy.

I kinda doubt a 20/40 cross could cause this
kind of movement in one day, days after it happened.

    So who dumped?

    An institution?
    Everyone?
    Traders?
    Random event?

  4. Their revenue numbers were a bit weak.

  5. BUY THE RUMOURS AND SELL THE NEWS, BABY!!!!

    HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

(I haven't been trading AZN lately; I'm just saying this because it's something I've been thinking about alot lately while waiting at traffic lights, showering, etc.)

  6. Ok... so you think EVERYONE was basically in on the selling?

Looking at just the price chart over the last little while, the sideways movement that started in mid-Oct and interrupted the nice little uptrend that started at the end of July showed signs of reversing when the $80 support area turned into quite a neat resistance over the previous 7 trading days. From what I can see, if there was going to be a big move (esp. on an earnings announcement) the price chart indicated on recent activity that it would be down.

I know this doesn't answer the question of 'why' given it beat estimates, but the last few days suggested an upside breakout was unlikely.

  8. What I really wanted to know is... who do you
think was involved in this selling? Everyone?
    Some big instution? Traders... what?

Who were the main sellers, if any?

  10. So Babak,

You suspect this Edward Lampert dude just
bailed in one day, and everyone jumped on board?

At $80 a share, about $480,000,000 just blew by.

He had 5 billion in 10 stocks, one of which was AZO,
so that sounds about right. Wonder how many shares
    he has left :D
