  1. I think you nailed the root of the problem : the ego makes people believe they are in the same league as real wealth.
And they do not understand they are just tools.

How many other countries that have had nationalized HC for MANY years gone broke? Correct none. Other countries have had debt problems but nary a mention that HC was the reason. Why? Because they are sensible about costs.

The Divided States of America has a horrible HC system because there are ending layers of money grabbers overcharging and flat out fraud ingrained in the system.

ACA is the first step in a LONG process to change the whole system. In the end, it will be a blessing for everyone, believe it.

Admit it, no one wants to pay for life itself, UNTIL you are on your death bed...........then you EXPECT the BEST.

Who is it that really wants a free ride? ...Those that do not have HC insurance or those that are stingy and want to screw over the workers and keep everything for themselves?

I know a women that has a couple pet clinics and someone else asked her if her employees have HC insurance........she proudly and BOLDLY said HECK NO!!

My grandfather has a 500k portfolio plus his social Security that he lives off of. He tried to tell me that he is in the 1%. I started laughing, its so preposterous to think that. He hates Obama with a passion, but he relies on Social Security payments, and Medicare. I told him that he should thank Obama, the GOP would like to take away Social Security and medicare during this shutdown of the Government. I don't want to hear what a whining pussy he would be if they took his socialist benefits away.

we don't get along now that I told him he is a tool, and not even close to being in the 1%. The thing is that he can't argue with me, because I have more money then him in a few years of work and I still dont consider myself rich.

So yes, that ego is defintely part of the problem

One of the iconic images I remember from the early debates on this (the "death panel" phase) was a news photo of a bunch of old, white Republicans waving their placards that demanded that the government keep its hands off their Medicare.

This is about as good an example of cognitive dissonance as I can think of and pretty much sums it all up.

  6. Republican could let reality to teach Obama a lesson. If the idea is worked out in reality, then it'd be good for America.
Though, As you know, fundamentally, Obamacare is betting on the idea of socialized risk. The more people participate in the curent system. it would distribute the risk throughout the system, then possibly it'd bring down the overall cost because more people contributing money to the current system. The pot could get little bigger, but is it safer or riskier?

Then what is the profile of the new participants? unfortunately these are high risk cases with disease, illiness, those who can't drive...:) as a result, it'd make the current system more riskier. I don't know how many young people out there would be needed to support the additional risk and absorb the cost. they might even have health insurance from their parents' plan.

While Obamacare introduces no competition to the system to keep the cost down, HMOs would be the ones who take on more risk. I think they eventually would jack up the premium (initially, they might offer insurance at low price at the beginning like many car insurance companies do to lure you in, then they'd slowly raise the price).

I don't like the way Obama talks about his healthcare plan like he's bring a good thing to people. there's no good thing being created here, only tax and burden to Americans and businesses.

He didn't deal with that question. It looks like he'd rather respond with logical fallacies (red herrings in particular).

The basic idea is "Let everyone live as they please; someone else will pay for it." That "someone" is a producer. Incidentally, I've met many successful entrepreneurs...and very few were obese.

Yep, that poster is notorious for avoiding a specific point and trying to distort, change or otherwise alter the topic being debated. I realized it's futile to try to deal with him on an adult level.

  10. between Obama and John Boner :) , who is going to blink first?

traders! wage your bet. who in here has deep pocket? wanna step up to be market maker for this bet? :)

I think Obama is going to blink first because he has so many things on his plate to be worried about while John Boehner is responsible for 100 thousands of people or so...

if US slips into depression, people will automatically blame the king first.
