auxilary speakers for a laptop

I bought a pair of small auxilary speakers the other day for my lenovo T61 and thought that all I had to do was plug them into my audio connection.

Well, this isnt working but when I plug in my headset that works.

Is there more to this or have I bought a lemon.

If the headset works, and the speakers do not, it's obviously the speakers, not the machine.

 

Open your volume control and check settings.
