Automation and trading

  1. I am a freelancer doing some research for a newspaper article on IT and the future of work. In particular, I'm investigating Paul Krugman's "hollowing out" thesis - that as computers get smarter and more powerful, automation will increasingly affect middle-management and professionals, not just clerical and admin jobs.

Has anyone here been affected by the automation of trading, either now or in the past?

Do you think that there will always be a need for human traders?

Do you think that banks currently rely too much on computer models?

(note to mods: if this is to spammy then I'm happy to modify it)
