Automated trading must have....web power switch

  1. I recently bought one of these web power switches:

and it rocks. I leave my trading PC running all day with automated trading systems, and dual NIC cards connected to two routers, one for DSL the other for the cable modem. Periodically one of the routers will freeze up, leaving me with only one internet connection. However with the web power switch I can reboot them remotely, and with the auto-ping feature I can let the power switch reboot it for me (cycle the power).

If you are setting up redundancies for your trading PC this is definitely worth looking into. It's $90 for the switch, $40 more for the auto-ping feature. They also sell a $300 one that has a serial port for a modem to connect to, but I thought that was overkill (for me at least). I've been wanting something like this for over a year, but I was never willing to pay $400+ for this...then I found this one. They don't advertise it -- I don't know why not it's awesome.

Anyway, here's the link for it:

If you're not going the route of hosting your trading systems elsewhere such as with strategy runner, then this is a must have....
