On the website of the Automated Trading Championship 2007, an Interview with Tai Elliott (MiltonWaddams) has been published. Tai is the leader of the Championship. He places his bets on low-volatility securities and long-term strategies. "At present, I'm interested more in something which has proven results over a long period without any intervention, rather than an EA which requires frequent optimization."

On the website of the Automated Trading Championship 2007, an Interview with Alexei Ermolaev (Zyx40) has been published. Alexei Ermolaev (Zyx40) is a newbie in automated trading. He does not have much experence in it. He works with statistical approaches to analysis, so he decided to apply these methods in developing his own EA.

"I began trading with ready-made indicator-based Expert Advisors, but I learned very soon that they did not have prospects. The matter is that an indicator sees events in the market very limitedly. It does not work at the points where it diverges from the market... I think that success depends on the combination: indicator + statistics."

On the website of the Automated Trading Championship 2007, an Interview with Olexandr Topchylo (Better) has been published. He performed unsuccessfully in the last-year Championship, and this failure was the making of him. Olexandr learned the lesson and became the leader of Championship 2007 with a huge equity!

"The last-year system can be called scalping. However, I have revised my position towards this trading technique since that Championship. My present system is based on absolutely different principles... the results of scalping EAs may be as different as day and night in Tester, on a demo account or in real trading, as well as they are different for different brokers. So such strategies are unfit for a long-term and stable trading forex."

On the website of the Automated Trading Championship 2007, the Analytical Report by Better has been published. Nick 'Better' is used on the Championship by Olexandr Topchylo. As of now, he is the unquestionable leader who has got far ahead of all his competitors. Olexandr is Cand. Sc. (Physics and Mathematics), and this helps him develop a successful Expert Advisor. Besides, he put his knowledge to analysis of Expert Advisors and obtained very interesting results:

    1. Even in "nearly ideal" conditions, Expert Advisors would averagely have losses of about -0.55 pips per trade. If we even consider some slippage at opening/closing "by market", the EAs turn out not to trade better than they would if entering/leaving were generated randomly.
    2. Despite of the fact that Expert Advisors, unlike human traders, are not prone to emotions, the developers include their own mental attitudes in their programs. This results in a clear tendency to fix small profits and allow losses to grow.

On the website of the Automated Trading Championship 2007, the Report of the 8th Week of the Championship has been published. Two thirds of the Championship have passed. Familiar Participants are on the first places, but surprises run on. The Championship leader's equity has grown by 46 thousand by the end of the last week. No more risky Expert Advisors are in the Top Ten now. All three future Winners of the Championship are most likely in this table of leaders already.
