  1. I'm not sure why you'd say that. At least EricP has posted several times in the P&L thread. Here is the one I found after less than 30 seconds of searching.

    There are several others.

My last comment on this issue.

  2. Oh, and BTW.

Multiple-aliases violate the Member Conduct Rules

"5) Registration is limited to one username per member. Elite Trader may, without prior notice, immediately terminate any or all of your accounts after discovering you have registered, and/or posted under, multiple usernames."

This is my only user-name. Getting back to the original topic...

If Eric and Austin want to leave, them let them go. Obviously, they have the wrong intentions about this website. They are looking for a social website like facebook or meetup. This site is about trading.

This thread was one of the most enjoyable to read in a few years. You know why? Real discussion. Posts that are thought out, and with little childish profanity (other than Gann...again).

I believe I have the oldest active username on ET, and Baron was right that there were always trolls here. The difference was the real trader-to-troll ratio.

    1) There's one thing I have never understood...WHY does anyone get to have multiple aliases? There should be one login per IP to force accountability. If you want to act like an idiot, then you will be stuck with that post history forever. Nothing good comes from multiple aliases.

    2) Profanity should be banned. It's a simple code implementation to the site.

    3) Baron needs to have strict guidelines for the mods. Threats and profanity should absolutely not be allowed.

    4) I support some form of self moderation. Maybe you need to be a member for X amount of time, or have a high member rating.

Unfortunately flaming/antagonizing spurs more posts, and more posts = more clicks for Baron so I don't see it happening.

We already do that. The problem isn't with keeping a user from registering multiple usernames with the same IP. The real problem is with those few users that can get a new IP each time they want to register a new alias. Yes, there are a handful of users who actually have no life whatsoever and go to the trouble of deleting their cookies, getting a new email address, AND getting a new IP address on each new alias registration.

Thanks, what do you think about the other points?

You can't expect people to not use profanity here when they CAN use it everywhere else in real life. Now, we do have a rule about removing posts with excessive profanity, which we define as a post which has more profanity than it has usable content. But even in a case like that, the post is being removed primarily for being pointless than it is for the profanity itself.

In my opinion the allowed use of profanity on message boards creates an immature atmosphere. There are many boards that automatically turn shit into ****. I don't think anyone would miss being able to use those words here.

I think "some form" are the key words. Like I said before, I've never seen that implemented successfully on another message board site. I'm sure that the main reason why is because it's not even a feature that's offered by any of the companies who provide message board software. Perhaps there's a legal reason why they dont offer it. I don't know but I will look into it.

  10. And how exactly do you get around when people start typing "sh it" or other variations of the word?
