Are you claiming the sages said you would go to hell if.... or Jesus said... If you say jesus said it, you should be quoting him from the bible or maybe even one of the gnostic gospels.
This quote does not lead to an understanding that you will burn in hell if you do not believe in Jesus. In fact quite the contrary. It seems that there must have been at least another way to heaven when Jesus posed the questiion? also unless you are a money changer in solomons temple or perhaps a pharisee (I did not look up the quote but I know it.) this quote really does not apply.
You wanted context? Here it is: Mathew 23:34Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. You're partly right - the beginning of this part talked about Pharisees, "teachers of the law," and Rabbi's. Jesus called them "hypocrites." My understanding is that Jesus was talking about the Jews who did not believe him. Is it fair to generalize to all nonbelievers?
jesus plain enough.. Matthew 25:41 "Then shall he ['the Son of man'] say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels " He expects people to 'come unto' the least of his brethren, whilst he himself would rather condemn the least of his brethren to hell and damnation. Talk about hypocrisy. Not only does Matthew describe jc as mean spirited, christ is depicted as vindictive and unforgiving too, very much like his dad.
hitler was raised a christian and claimed to be doing gods will when he murdered the jews. "I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord.." As a boy, Hitler attended to the Catholic church and experienced the anti-Semitic attitude of his culture. In his book, Mein Kampf, Hitler reveals himself as a fanatical believer in God and country. This text presents selected quotes from the infamous anti-Semite himself. never lost my belief, in the midst of setbacks which were not spared me during my period of struggle. Providence has had the last word and brought me success. -Adolf Hitler As Fuehrer of the German people and Chancellor of the Reich, I can thank God at this moment that he has so wonderfully blessed us in our hard struggle for what is our right, and beg Him that we and all other nations may find the right way, so that not only the German people but all Europe may once more be granted the blessing of peace. -Adolf Hitler
that hitler deal is a also out of context there are people who have determined that hitler may have been a quarter jewish and that while he may have been catholic as a kid, he became very anti christian and into the occult during his public life. just check the past threads for the cites to the may different sites. (what do you think of that stu. I slowed my typing down to please you.) I will review the jesus quotes later.
Stu are you bitter?. First of all if you put this in context you see this judgement comes after the second coming. When you will have a chance to see him arrive for yourself, after the destruction of the middle east. if you choose to deny him after he comes back... ---- as far as the brood of vipers. jesus' pretty much only condemns people who lead others to condemnation. he loves and forgives everyone but people who lie about holy spirit. (this is what I have figured out so far, I can stand corrected.)
not true at all up to within 3 years of his death he professed his belief that he was led by gods providence. notice the dates. "Lord God, give us the strength that we may retain our liberty for our children and our children's children, not only for ourselves but also for the other peoples of Europe, for this is a war which we all wage, this time, not for our German people alone, it is a war for all of Europe and with it, in the long run, for all of mankind." Adolf Hitler, 30 Jan. 1942, in Berlin In vowing ourselves to one another, we are entitled to stand before the Almighty and ask Him for His grace and His blessing. No people can do more than that everybody who can fight, fights, and that everybody who can work, works, and that they all sacrifice in common, filled with but one thought: to safeguard freedom and national honor and thus the future of life.Adolf Hitler, in a radio address, 30 Jan. 1945 The bomb which was planted by Colonel von Stauffenberg exploded two meters to my right. It seriously injured a number of my colleagues who are very dear to me; one has died. I myself am completely unhurt apart from a few minor skin abrasions, bruises and burns. I interpret this as confirmation that Providence wishes me to continue my life's mission as I have in the past. Adolf Hitler, on 20 July 1944 I, for my part, acknowledge another precept which says that man must deal the final blow to those whose downfall is destined by God. -Adolf Hitler, in an address to the Reichstag, 06 April 1942 May therefore God give us the strength to continue to do our duty and with this prayer we bow in homage before our dead heroes, before those whom they have left behind in bereavement, and before all the other victims of this war. -Adolf Hitler, in prayer at the end of a radio address on 15 March 1942.
