There is a new set of sanctions being considered. One of them is a blockade of petrol imports to Iran. I guess they're saying if we block their oil/gasoline they will block crude oil shipments.

As you say, I imagine there would be a quick response by the USN but I do think crude prices will skyrocket nonetheless.

  2. If you're so sympathetic to Iran, go help them block the Straight of Hormuz so we can kill two birds with one stone.

I know the facts are tough on you - and you of course would not be the US troops in harms way. When you put yourself on the line then you can make stupid comments like you did. Funny, you can't challenge what I said - I am right on target.

More reasons - Ron Paul 2012!

  7. I'm not willing to put US troops in harms way for Israel. Israel is more than capable of defending itself.

  8. Iran blocking the Straight of Hormuz would be about a lot more than Israel, Paultard.

Or do you "think" it all ultimately goes back to the evil Joooz?

That's true. But you know the Europeans - they always back off if they think they may have to get their hands dirty.

Obama wants to talk to the Iranians. It's not clear if he has the cojones to blockade the oil out or the gasoline in.

But the Iranians have to know that in the air and on the sea they not only are no match for the U.S. but it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. I would be surprised if it took 48 hours to completely destroy the Iranian navy.

So, I see their threat to close the straight a bluff.

  10. I think a lot of what is happening in the Middle East right now has to do with Israel's imposition of apartheid conditions on the Palestinians.

Besides, we violated Iranian airspace with a spy aircraft and have imposed sanctions against them...not for what they have done, but for what they might do. I'm surprised they haven't retaliated already. Truth be told, they've shown remarkable restraint. Maybe they realize a war would be lose lose...unlike some foreign policy misfits who seem to think it's a good idea.

Besides, this is not the first time they've threatened to block the straits of horumz. In fact, that tactic has been in every threat assessment I have ever seen regarding Iran. If this goes down, it will be because we provoked it.
