The installer was just here, he said I could get by on 8, I ended up with 45. He says my computer can only handle 36. Oh well, I got it today, $100/mo for DTV and unlimited internet. He said I am really close to fiber optic (whatever that means) and my receiver is really smoking.
Sales talk. I have fiber at 200mb/s and unlimited volume for less. But not living in the US. Fiber is only good if the rest of your connection is good too. The weakest link defines your speed. If there is a bottleneck at 15mb/s your fiber will not perform well. I am pretty sure that 8mb/s is more than enough for most traders.
I think it's a good speed for everyday use, but I can tell you that something like that should be increased really a lot cause lot of people in 3rd world countries get 1GBPs Ethernet unlimited connections for like $15 a month, so please go figure this.
