Oil is limited. OPEC cannot replenish its sources at the drop of the dime. I have read many various projections about the durability of oil as the main source of energy and at the current growth rate of the consumption, we got a few decades left.

Solar is the next best source of energy after natural gas that can be utilized by anyone and everyone. It is coming closer to being cost efficient every year (excluding any government support). Just after reading about some of these self sufficient homes and solar/windmill farms, there is no doubt in my mind about the potential of solar as a major supportive source of energy in the home & business. Did you know you can sell watts to the electricity grid? You can actually build an energy farm and make money from it.

All other forms of alternative energy are just under development. Some will work some will not. But you cannot deny simple facts of nature. Oil is not forever. You expect the world to wait till the last drop is used and then look toward new sources?

  2. OPEC can replenish at the drop of a dime... Saudi alone can support the marginal increase in demand until 2050. The Yankee quarter of Arabia hasn't even been touched.

and that's not counting the Caspian and Siberian reserves which are likely as vast as the Middle east.

the only driver for alternate energy will be some drastic global warming event.

I don't like the cold anyway....

That 2050 figure completely depends on the assumed oil consumption growth rate. And I think I have read that report, I think.

Think China, Russia, India, Mexico & parts of Latin America going through a capitalist boom.

  4. whatever...........

the thing has become so politicized that during a record cold day in New York, Al Gore actually blamed the the cold on Global Warming screwing up the weather patterns.

Al needs to go sit down someplace.....

  5. What is the scarce material, or mats, and who is the main supplier? Thanks.

Could it be that this mat is scarce because the oil comps are manipulating supply?

  6. The term free-energy is for marketing to the ignorant crowd. FREE ENERGY IS IMPOSSIBLE like FREE MONEY IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Free Energy is misnamed like Chaos Theory is misnamed - since not every non-linear dynamic system is in chaotic state - or Artificial Intelligence is misnamed - see why AI is a HYPE:
    http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30991&perpage=6&highlight=hype&pagenumber=4
"The term AI has been overhyped. It ressembles nothing of really artificial intelligence at the moment. In fact NN has lost much of its credibility because of this hype (for the scientists, for the public hype still works) so that now some specialists of NN - I met a few years ago a famous one he was an international specialist and his lab was working on models for petroleum and financial domains - even refuses the use of AI term and prefers to talk about non linear statistical approximator."

It's the same thing for the term free energy it's been overhyped !
Matter/Energy can only be transformed. So it's never free in this sense. It is well known that tesla, who is the true inventor of Electricity, has also affirmed that it was possible to use the magnetic field but he died before showing anything concrete (btw Tesla is also the inventor of radio and in fact the Supreme Court has recognised that Marconi has stolen him his patent on radio see http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=427575&highlight=Tesla#post427575). Some charlatans may exploit that like charlatans in trading may exploit the 5000 years secret of the Pyramid :D. This shouldn't discard a few and rare scientific research in the field more than research there are now real appartus which prove concretely that it can work the problem is the organisation of production, marketing etc. for people who are pure technologist and not businessmen that can be cumbersome indeed. So they had to wait the moment the medias will decide to put the accent on that. But those who are intelligent investors won't wait and would have put their money in the stuff before. The problem for them will be to avoid the charlatans. The stuff I gave above has been checked by scientific review that's how I know it in fact.

  7. a buddy of mine in West Texas had this idea of a self wealth creation by building a solar farm and selling the power.

I suggested that as Oklahoma trailer parks attract tornados, solar arrays attract brick sized hail stones.

  8. Is there a mass producer and seller of windmills to the general public?

    Little windmillls for family houses?

  9. Yeah, I'm sure it's a highly hyped term.
Because I know about it and I've never taken a science class. I think the term free energy is used because the electricity is derived from, in some cases, thin air. Hype is often good for semi-obscure technologies.

I would love to have phrases like this in my vocabulary:
    non-linear statistical approximator.
