I saw several videos of this. The guy was fighting the cops. It is not the cops job to fight you. Looked justified to me and no where close to what happened with Floyd.

This is a non-story. Ohhhh, I forgot, we have a media who are a bunch liars and will do anything in their power to divide people.

The video clearly shows he stopped and turned around and tried to fire the tazer at the cop chasing him. That was when he was shot. He deserves to be shot for that reason. Now, he already got away from the cops, should have dropped the tazer and kept running. If he kept running and was shot then, that would be murder. The fact that he turned around to face the cops indicated, he was ready to fight and he was. Some people just too damn stupid.

  4. Watch the video...coo pulls his piece and shoots suspect at least 6 feet away from him.

Again, police often resort to simply shooting rather than calling in back up or pursuing like we see in every movie or TV. I thought it was SOP but guess it is just fiction.

Fire shots first and ask questions or fudge the evidence later.

I was trying to answer your question with a little fast food humor about why he was arrested.

Regarding the sobriety test, https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/14/us/videos-rayshard-brooks-shooting-atlanta-police.html has

And I'd be telling a whopper if I didn't point out the people had it their way and flame-broiled the Wendy's where the beef was as a lesson to shake up the police.:)

  6. This is the best summary so far of the events that transpired backed up by the video.

I think the police acted properly up until one minute before the shooting. In other words if he was drunk and he ended up in Wendy's (nothing better than fast food when you are shit faced and hungry) then he did drive there and committed a DUI. The appear to place him under arrest and that is when he lost his shit, not sure if he was properly tazed to be honest. Video shows officer trying but did not see if he ws successful.

Guy grabs tazer and swings at officer and takes off running.

He was searched and already deemd to not have any weapons on his person.

This is where I feel the training is deficient because a man running away from a DUI arrest, even flashing the tazer, should not be shot. Police are properly trained to shoot through the middle of the target (chest area) and that is why it is always a kill shot. there is not tkaing out the leg like in movies or through the shoulder to stop him. they aim for the middle circle and the cop fired 3 TIMES.

I don't think it should be a death sentence even with his actions here. Otherwise anyone who touches an officer or resists can simply be shot and then you are telling me the penalty for resisting arrest by an unarmed man is death. That is bullshit.

I am not sure the cop should face any criminal charges, the issue here is the training on when to discharge their firearm and administrative leave with retraining or something similar for the cop who fired the gun would be appropriate or inter-department punishment with a complete revamp of engagement laws and firing on a fleeing unarmed suspect. The cop was a few feet behind him and could have caught him in about 10 seconds.

The second cop did nothing wrong at all to be honest and not sure what he would be charged or punished with. The firing cop simply needs a review and if his firing of the weapon was within police protocol then the protocol is WRONG and needs to be changed.

  7. Reasonable and sensible assessment of what appears to have happened and what should be done moving forward. Sadly the mob isn't in a reasonable mood these days, and they are calling the shots as evidenced by the knee jerk responses from cowardly politicians caving to their every demand.

Difference between touching and full blown wrestling match, if you get into a wrestling
match with cop trying to arrest you then being shot is warranted in ALL cases. Why?
Because the cops life is in danger at that point, if perp grabs his gun then what?

  9. So why does a guy go after the cop and his taser, then run, all over some B.S. DUI? Five will get you ten this dude ran for the same reason 90% of them run, priors, warrants, parole violation. They know they're going back to do more time, that's why they fight and run. I'll bet as this evolves we'll learn there's more to this guy running than he just decided to bolt.

  10. uh they would have known that literally 5 minutes after he was shot since you just look it up on the computer if he had priors or outstanding warrants. You think this is TV where they wait until 3 minutes before the end of the hour to reveal the cliff hanger so you watch next week?

But the real question, is bolting a crime punishable by death?

I hope not because they are cops, not the Gestapo.
