Because when they say the universe appears designed they're in the same realm as the rest of us, no longer partaking in science but wonder. Of course the degree is still on the wall, but you should know I meant that figuratively. I would answer your last paragraph above by submiting, it doesn't stop there. If Science discovered the magician that created or invented the universe then there will still always be questions that are askable. The powers of miracle making chronicled in the Bible will always be open to inquiry.
It is not wonder... its science. You have a choice the universe evolved the way it did by chance or by design. When science rules out chance - which nobel prize winners now do - due to their work in science... it leaves you with either design or something else not yet discovered by science.
that is the old we agree to disagree as if it is okay to disagree about something that is not subjective. An intellectual response would be to refute it, accept it or modify it. 1. do many scientists now say the universe we live in appears designed. Yes or No. 2. do they come to that conclusion based on results of scientific inquiry... yes or no. When a nobel prize winners says a bacteria could not turn into ____ because there is not enough time in the universe for it to happen... is that not scientific conclusion? --- I am not saying you must respond as this is a chat thread... but I doubt you really "feel" that we can both be correct on this issue.
Nonsense. First, STUpid has no argument. He's simply parroting something he has no clue about and is a scientific ignoramus: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=2952513#post2952513 Second, some scientists' speculation that the universe spontaneously creating itself from nothing is not at all reasonable given that they don't even understand its structure.
This link say they know (how much) dark energy. "What Is Dark Energy? More is unknown than is known. We know how much dark energy there is because we know how it affects the Universe's expansion." http://science.nasa.gov/astrophysics/focus-areas/what-is-dark-energy/
Simply not so. A scientific theory is never just a theory. Were it just a theory, it wouldn't be scientific theory. Bit obvious really. So what's your real beef with this. Apart from being purposely obtuse (or otherwise)?
Obvious? Hardly, but apparently true... http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Theory#Further_explanation_of_a_scientific_theory
It's not that simple. For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theoretical_physics#Mainstream_theories
Good of you to acknowledge it. But tell me, if not obvious, who or what would lead you to think scientific theory, is ever just theory? The scientific explanation for a universe to begin from nothing is going to be a lot more than just theory, especially when considering; the laws of physics allow for it .
