I have some questions. Where did you get the idea that there is God? Or more importantly, where did you get the idea that there is one and only one God? What if there are two gods named, say, Jehovah and Satan? Or what if there are 46 gods and they decide what to do by a majority vote?

Based on the world we live in, how can you claim to have any knowledge at all about a god or gods? As you say, the bible (or pick any other religious books you please) contains errors. So how do you know what is true and what is false?

Faith is belief without evidence, whereas science is based entirely on evidence.

Why do theists feel the need to try to claim science is "just another religion"? Actually I already know why but I'd like to hear you say it.

  6. I was referring to vhehn's statement that "..we all go to the same place when we die...", and his tongue in cheek reply that I would find the evidence for this at science.com.

As far as true science, I see it as the "footprint" of the Creator...

As far as science being a religion, it certainly can be, when theory becomes dogma.

  7. You are asking good questions, and you deserve answers, assuming you are asking in good faith. I will answer them if you want, but it can take multiple posts.

Let me start. God (that deserves to be worshipped) cannot do evil things, as otherwise he will not be fit to be God. God, Satan are just words, but their meaning are real in our minds.

Satan is viewed in our mind that it can do evil things. So he cannot be God. So the question of Satan is resolved.

You asked about existing or past religions. God should be all knowing (because if he lacks knowledge, he should not be worshiped). Any religion that says it is a religion, comes with something which is written, spoken, or witnessed. In other words, a message that can be communicated to humans. You take those words and compare them to facts that were not known when the religion first came out. You did that for the Bible, and reached legitimate conclusions.

If a religion makes mistakes, then it is not of divine origin. Now it could have been divine at some point, and the message changed. Let us called a religion like this a partially divine religion. In such case you have a case to bring in front of God indicating that you did not believe this relation because of the mistakes in that book. Given that God is just he cannot blame you, and you will win. However, God can still blame you for not looking at other possibilities, and he can argue that he gave you a brain, eyes, etc to look for the truth.

I will get to other points in a next post, such as God must transcend time, cannot be born, cannot die, etc. If he does any of this he is not God. I will also explain that God cannot have associates, and cannot be a God for humans only or for a group of humans.

  9. So that I do not waste my time, I will wait for you before I address the other questions (partners and God, God of some but not of others, God and time, etc).

  10. Vhehn showed dishonesty in this thread. He asks evidence about statements of others, which is legitimate, but wave that for his statements such as what the question for which you asked a link. He is inconsistent, non scientific, and hypocrite. To discuss God, an individual has to be truly honest with others and with oneself, in addition to being intellectually capable.

You should disregard his statements, unless and until he becomes clean.
