  1. I see your Creationwiki argument and raise you one The God Delusion argument.

(I also see the results of your own poll.)

  2. So you can't counter the article which references:

The Mayo Clinic did an analysis of 850 mental health studies involving religious belief and involvement and found that mental health was positively affected by faith. [2]

Subsequently, 1,200 studies at research centers around the world have come to similar conclusions. For example, Psychologie Heute, a German journal, cites the marked improvement of multiple sclerosis patients in Germany's Ruhr District because of "spiritual resources." [3]

Professor Vitz did a study of the most prominent professed atheists in the last 400 years; it appears that those individuals neither were nor are paragons of mental health, and that a disproportionate number had strained relationships with their fathers. [4] [5]

I didn't think you could counter it...I assumed you would only attack the messenger because you wouldn't like the message...

As to the results of an ET poll...

Okay, what if I were to run an ET poll asking the ET Townies if you were a limp emasculated pussy?

Would the poll then tell the reality of the situation?

    Get real...

This doesn't prove what you say it proves. It shows that spirituality leads to better mental health, but that doesn't imply even in its strongest form that lack of spirituality is an illness. To wit, if A leads to B, lack of A does not necessarily mean the lack of B.

It could very well be the same mechanism as the placebo effect.

    Also. You are an idiot.

  4. So you can't counter the material and references in Dawkins's book? Ad hominem is all you got?

    It's your poll, not mine.

  5. So you are in agreement that spirituality leads to better mental health.

    What about Dr. Vitz's study?

Oh, and you are so intelligent...

    :D :D :D

  6. Try this.

Make an argument, a proposition, put forth an idea, then post information as supporting evidence.

So if you started a poll that asked the ET members if you were a limp emasculated pussy, or if stu did that, or if anyone else did that...it would matter?

    LOL!

I posted a poll, and I got the kind of response I expected from the ET Townies...

  7. That is precisely what it is.

I won't take issue with whether spirituality leads to better mental health. I'll assume it's right for the sake of this argument.

But even assuming that that's correct the lack of spirituality does not imply lack of mental health.

Does this simple logic 101 not make sense to you? The point being, whatever the accuracy of the study (and I imagine it being reputable study, there's a margin of error), it doesn't support your point. Moreover, the study was done on patients already with mental illness, not the general public.

  9. You are not taking into account Dr. Vitz's study?

Why is such a smart guy like you ignoring that?

    :D :D :D

  10. It is "townies" who are more inclined to buy into your Sky Daddy placebo. Your poll, such as it is, supports this obvious point. Religion is proportionately more prevalent in the boondocks and other such centers of great learning, rather than in your typical metropolis setting.

Once you start wading is shit, you just can't help but revel in it, can you?
