Hi basically wondering at what time the exchanges open so you can place limit orders for the next day. I have IB and they won't accept limit orders now
I remember using another broker and I generally have no trouble placing orders of any kind, including limit orders at any time even when the exchange is closed. What can happen is the market maker closes at a bid of 0 or $ 1 / share - some value that is much less than the closing price. If I attempt to enter a limit order greater than that bid of 0 or $ 1 or whatever then the broker's computer system rejects my order. I recall solving the problem by sending email to the New York Stock Exchange and asking that the bid price be shown closer to the closing price so I may enter a limit order. I know of no solution for the same problem involving NASDAQ listed stocks because there is no single market maker in NASDAQ stocks.
