BP is a political stock now and not a regular trading stock.

  3. DO/BP spread beats today on price and variance. Spread is flat, BP is up 3.77.

don't want to discuss that particular trade but i have one general question about how you trade pairs.

from what i see it looks like that for each 100 shares of DO you sell 100 share of BP. Is that right? is that why you claim that the spread is flat? somehow I really can't believe that you do it this way - I do it differently...

  5. This was a 1:1 switch, but I typically weight for beta and stat vol. I rarely trade pairs unless I am hedging an option calendar (CL). Most of my switch trades are in VIX and FI, almost always flies, and I haven't traded a stock pair since '08 (before DO/BP).

  6. Still waiting for the low $20's... :D

They've been lying about how much has been gushing out of their hole - again.

That means there's an even bigger plume of killer-cloud shyt floating under the ocean that hasn't even seen the light of day yet.

BP hasn't been reliable in any information they release, and they gag-order anyone that does any clean-up for them, so that means they are hiding the bad health affects on people (let alone the fishies).

US Doubles Gulf Oil Spill Estimate to 40K Barrels a Day
    Reuters | June 10, 2010 | 10:56 PM EDT
U.S. government scientists on Thursday doubled their estimate of the amount of oil gushing out of a ruptured Gulf of Mexico oil well as British energy giant BP scrambled to stem the leak.

The news that the flow rate may be as high 40,000 barrels (1.68 million gallons/6.36 million liters) per day came after U.S. markets closed.

  9. us usually, American media are completely blowing up the oil spill. And politicians seem its opportune to jump on the bandwagon. While this accident will harm the ecosystem and jobs of many who are dependent on fishing and the coastal system it for sure does not spell an end to BP, this is absolutely pathetic to assume. Do I know whether the BP div will be lowered or dropped ? No, nor do I know whether we made a bottom but I know that I am gonna buy BP once it has bottomed out and shows strength again. Maybe BP should just wave a good bye to the American market and consumer, they have plenty enough drilling rights elsewhere in the world. I think if this carries on BP might just do that and say "we pay out what we promised to do but fuxx you, we dont pay your ridiculous punitive damage claims". You already see British politicians chiming in to admonish Americans to stay away this ridiculous rhetoric. This is the same scare and bs going around in the US than what we experienced during the flu and vaccination scare. People proclaimed the end of the world, in the end it was nothing but hot air.
