At what price BP?

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by Swan Noir, Jun 1, 2010.

  1. How do you do spreads like this - do u long DO & short BP separately or do u entered it as a single spread trade?

If you are doing a single spread trade, who is your broker?

    Thanks in advance.

well if you are not stupid you know i was not talking about this petty detail.

i was talking about that yesterday during the day you were down big and especially on DO/SLB (close to 5 bucks, i.e. 10% of capital). every normal trader would take the trade off (stop-loss) especially with uncertainty that the second spill was bringing. but you even did not bother post that it does not look very good (to say the least).

today 1 hour into the trading we have you here chearing and celebrating profits as everything ultimately turned up ok (btw wasn't it a 60 days trade?).

how typical of ET: post a trade without any reasoning, stop losses, the trade structure (like vol weighting, MtM weighting or simply idiotic shares offset which it looks like you went for).
Simply nada. then defend the trade with something you have no clue about (stat-arb) and if it works you are a hero - if not people will either forget or simply be silent because they are decent.

and the irony is i waste my time with such a loser. out

  3. lol, it opened -3.65, worst print on the day. I added at the close, HOD. So your pathos is related to the heat I took at -3.65? I'll take -3.65 with +4.65 today. I never went long DO/SLB, it was simply a reference to the "wager" action, nothing more. You're still up a buck on that basis the "preference" call. I made much more on SLB (outright & 55 calendar) this week than I am marked today in DO/BP. It's in the other "spill" thread, all fills in realtime.

Simply making a closing comment on the spread and my prediction for DO in today's action. You made numerous posts yesterday outlining why the spread was death. lol, good timing, and thanks for the concern!

Whoop! 27.00 last! Go buy some more multinats-IOs/SPY and tell us about your prescience a week later. THAT'S a lag.

Are you still long BSC from 1xx?

i do not trade pairs very often but when I do I usually do it by legging into the trade via LMT orders. this has its own dangers.
I use mainly IB and I do not think there is a way to guarantee simultaneous fill for LMT orders. of course you can use Basket Trader and do MKT order or Sweep-to-Fill but the slippage may be unacceptable.
maybe atticus can add some value here (for a change) :)

what really is scary is what happened in the past few years to government involvement in business and privacy. they will soon tell us when we should eat, wash, make love etc. Orwell would be proud...

wtf government tells BP what to do with its own money? afaik there was no judgment yet and they were not sentenced to pay anything....
    fucking communists.
