All good. Aquaponicsing? With plants and frogs? Yes, last few months bred heaps of frogs, there's another batch coming along now. The plants kind of look after themselves, tadpoles soil the water badly and quickly which seems to promote plant growth. But it's a two way battle, taddys eating plants (shred them to pieces) and growth from taddy shit and sunshine which being summer here, there's plenty of heat. Over the last few months bred about 50 frogs and I've another couple of hundred coming along now. High mortality rate, big frogs eat little frogs and Butcher Birds get a few now and again.
Half the fun is keeping that system balanced out, i'd imagine. Bet when things are humming along the plants are snappin and poppin, lol.
I grow vietnamese mint (along with other plants) and the mint has strong roots and growth, multiplies quickly. Is a very good water purifier and taddys seem to like it, they burrow into it and chomp it. So its a revolving cycle, excrement feeds the plants with the plants feeding taddys and cleaning water. But the water still gets dirty so I bucket that water onto other pot plants dotted around the yard. I'll post some pics....
Its a rare rainy day today so using a vehicle battery charger to run the circulation pump, otherwise its solar, panel is on rhs. There are 5 plastic tubs there with fish, plants, taddys and frogs. There's mesh on the close by tank to stop Butcher Bird feasting on easy pickings. Will post another pic
Looks like the taddys are feasting on that algae too. Yep, i see that amphi taddy/frog in mid-morph. Lookin' good. That's a cool setup. These guys take the siphon between pools up and over?
Extension lead today for pump because of rain and cloud. Once frogs are a couple of days old they leave the tubs and hide in among the pot plants. Shade cloth there, gets very hot, 42 deg C at times, but usually around 35-37 deg in summer.
