1. It seems currently the ET posts/threads can be cheated by deleting any losing trades with live calls after posting within last certain minutes. Therefore, all the posts of this nature for live calls (including not only words but also names of stocks/futures/options, prices, etc.), after deletion, should be kept and maintained as attachments for/with the particular thread. I understand nobody now would want to spend time for this kind of posts, even knowing their deletion tricks well. However, we could give dislikes (if available) with the initial OP for an alert of the whole thread. 2. Sometimes, a poster (myself included) may genuinely/ sincerely want to provide personal opinions for any problematic advice unknowingly/unintentionally. I myself would like to review my own writing/concept if receiving many dislikes (especially from some experienced/knowledgeable), and I should thank them very much for their feedback and time for my improvements. Without dislikes feature, I can't.
Another 2 cents: Once the live calls evaluation is resolved, perhaps ET could consider the following new features. That could attract more active traders/members logging-in. http://www.cxoadvisory.com/gurus/ " Guru Forecasts Accuracy David Nassar 44 68.2% Ken Fisher 120 66.4% Jack Schannep 63 65.6% David Dreman 45 64.4% " http://www.cxoadvisory.com/3382/individual-gurus/david-nassar/ " S&P 500 Index Date Comments from: David Nassar via MarketWatch.com 5-Day Return 21-Day Return 63-Day Return 254-Day Return 5/26/06 …as we move into more choppy waters, it would be smart for investors to stand aside and let the trends turn back positive (remember, cash is also a position) or begin to acquire the skills of trading. -1.2% -1.1% 1.2% 20.0% + 3/27/06 …the benefit of the doubt does belong to the bulls, but that doesn’t mean that I want to back up the truck and buy the market. …remain selective and risk averse. -0.3% 0.3% -4.4% 9.2% + 2/24/06 …we will see the next leg lower before we see the next leg higher. -0.2% 0.9% -2.4% 8.8% + 2/9/06 …we must be more cautious and risk averse. … I am now cautiously bullish. 2.0% 1.6% 4.7% 15.2% – "
In theory I like the idea. From a practical standpoint, where I see this going south is when you have two people who never agree with each other, let's say destriero and surf for example. Now what you end up with are two people disliking every post that other person makes. So now it's off to the races to see who can get the other person auto-banned first. If you repeatedly dislike someone's post, you can pretty much count on the fact that they are going to repay the favor back to you as often as they can. My main concern though is where that ultimately leads to, which is that it will likely encourage the creation of multiple aliases, or at the very least, cause someone to invite other like minded people to carry out a premeditated, coordinated "dislike strike campaign" to the detriment and banning of another member. Ok, maybe that last sentence was a bit dramatic., but you get the point... LOL
On the top-right of each reply is Posts and Likes. Posts is a link to view that members posts, but Likes is not a link - could Likes be turned into a link so that we can view the posts that have been Liked? I think that would be useful.
Any forum designs to deter a few members or to make a few members happy is not worth Baron's time and effort to do such. The proof of such is that all of these types of threads have been discussed many times before in the pass since this forum birth and we still do not have such a button. Also, the forum itself is not a suitable place for a true performance record. Therefore, at best you can hope for is for Baron to align (partner up) with some performance record site that's out there and then hope that ET members sign up for it. The latter is a problem too because there's nothing that will "encourage" a member to sign up with one of the partner performance trading sites except for one thing... Make every member do such and until you do...you can not post again until you do such. Guess what, that would kill the forum and Baron would lose money. Yeah, that too has been suggested many times in the past.
