Future employers will be Japanese, South Korean, Singaporeans, etc. all Asians. How will they decide on which Americans applying for jobs are the most qualified? They will make Americans take a comparable test to the SAT exams. Those slugs who got thru with very low SAT scores and even succeeded in phasing SAT exams from so called elite schools, how do you expect to pass the test when you have to actually pass it to even be considered for a job in the future? Unlike, the US and Europe, meritocracy still practiced by most Asian businesses and bosses.

    you’re telling me!

my 10yo is doing proper algebra - stuff I learned in 8th grade she’s doing in 4th.

and before you say I’m a dimwit (which I might be) I got a 800 on my sat math and went to an Ivy to study engineering (the only Ivy with a proper engineering program).

  3. Yeah...average SATs scores are basically flat over past 5 years...COVID had little effect becuase most schools were only locked down from March 2020 - March 2021....

Also HS juniors and seniors are taking SATs and most of them were able to adapt really well for the partial year schools were virtual.

In fact in 2021 avg SAT scores went up which was the heart of COVID and barely came down the following year so lot of people here must have asses so jealous of all the shit that comes out of their mouths.

  4. the number of kids taking AP calculaus as juniors as increased quite a bit... calculaus is now more common in HS than in college. I stopped being able to help my HS son in math a few years ago jaja.

Sadly the math proficiency in the middle and lower classes still lags because the poorer schools dont get the same resources or qualified teachers. I think if the government made an investment in teaching math and sciences to bring up standards in the middle and lower class school districts it would lift the entire boat.

I think the scores are normalized for 1000.

  8. The site didnt say the scores were normalized, just that the averages...the percentage of people who get >1400 is actually small.

  9. Here is the real story of the SAT if you want to take race/ethnicity out of it:

Wealthier families go to better public and private high schools, have better college prep classes and can afford SAT review classes. It's not rocket science.

  10. Of course. I just threw that article in there because Usual Tard argued that everything had improved so much.

"The math alone the kids are doing in HS today isn’t even in the same league as 10-20 years ago." he said.

And I simply tossed in that even if that were true, some people are arguing that lockdown wiped it out. There are lots of other arguments too.

Things are not as groovy as he presents. It is just as you said: "education scores dropping has a lot to do with shitty educaiton across the country."
