arzoo, you are correct in your estimations. er2 is fine, but the reality is that Nikkei is trending like a mutha. day after day. 100-250 pts moves are relatively common. this offers (imo) better opportunity than the ER2. furthermore, i find the movement smoother. my favorite is still YM, because i think it has the purest moves, great spread, and i have very clearly defined setups. since i don't have tick, trin, putcall ratio, etc. i am a little nekkid on Nikkei, but it's not rocket science
hope this isnt a silly question. i was looking through the sgxnk contracts in ib and there seems to be quite a few of them. which of the contracts should we be looking at the march, april or june expiry? thanks.
Correct as mentioned above but stick to the front month as the other months are not liquid. (ie. currently Feb for HSI and March for SGXNK)
Thanks guys. just as a follow up, when do you rollover to the next contract? is it like the us minis when you rollover the thurs on the week before exiration? thanks again.
HSI HK 9:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. Last Trading Day = The Business Day immediately preceding the last Business Day of the Contract Month Trading Hours on Last Trading Day 9:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. SGXNK SG 7.45 am - 10.15 am xxx 11.15 am - 2.30 pm xxx 3.30 pm - 7.00 pm Last Trading Day = day before the 2nd Friday of the contract month. I note Mokwit's comment re the cash Nikkei below (subtract 1hr from his times to get Sg time) but at the same time the SGXNK future continues to move over the periods above. I have yet to stop trading hsi or sgxnk because the cash markets are closed - I've kept it simple and just responded to the action of the futures contract.
Kiwi, might be worth noting that cash hours have changed - now reopens 1pm not 12.30 and close at 3 pm - all Tokyo time
kiwi, the future hours have not changed. Just for clarification the TSE announced over the weekend that they'll revert to the "normal" trading schedule in May for stocks when upgrades in capacity are scheduled. Until then the cash trading sessions will be shortened according to the schedule Mokwit mentioned above.
Here's a nice list of Japanese sectors. Now what's needed is a good data provider and broker. http://www.nni.nikkei.co.jp/CF/FR/MKJ/list_nikkei_constituents.cfm?INDEX=NAVE def, when did you say IB will have access to Japanese stocks?
