That I can't disagree with. Unfortunately, that would require a regulating body, and then which ever government comes in would want to control that regulating body (for latest, look at EPA, FCC, credit protection bureau, etc...). So you end up w/media as in Russia, where they're objective for the most part, but never dare critique the government.
Fair enough, your probably right, it would probably create a silencing effect, i just wish there was a happy medium, with the internet now, it just seems we have lurched waaaaaay to far to the side where people are way to happy to report a story just for the sake of being first, and there is way to many shoddy "journalists"out there these days, who arent actually journalists. Not only that we have devolved to the point where reporting on what a bunch of asshats on Twitter think is actually considered journalism...... Any Article that starts with "Twitter thinks XYZ...." should be removed, and the writer should be tarred and feathered for being a jerkoff. You can find someone on twitter who supports or goes against just about any opinion, i cant even believe that random peoples opinions gets sourced as "news."

I almost feel sorry for the guy at this point, somehow after all these blatantly obvious fuckups in his career he still managed to land a job as a "journalist"...... now he is the "Steve Bartman" of journalism..... Hes probably getting escorted out of buzzfeed by security guards as we speak. The guys life in journalism is over after this, he is a pariah, he will be hated more by the left than the right, because he gave Trump ammo.
I doubt it. There are never any real consequences when you are on the democrat team. The only thing that will get you in trouble is breaking ranks.
I hope you are correct. However, Buzzfeed is still supporting him (for now). All journalists have biases. Their narrative is influenced by their biases. Sometimes they make mistakes. Leopold is not a journalist. This guy is shady. Buzzfeed hired this guy after knowing about his past shoddy journalism.
Absolute minimum of what should happen. Reporters should be put in front of a grand jury and forced to give up sources or admit they made it up. We are not talking about an article claiming some city councilman was fixing parking tickets. This was an attempt to overthrow the duly elected president, and claimed to be based on actual documents that could have only come from Mueller's staff. An actual investigation would take about three days. There are a very limited number of people with access. Mueller has viciously prosecuted people on made-up process crimes based solely on the fact they worked for Trump. Now the shoe is on the other foot and we want blood.
