  3. Well, good luck. I sold out in 2002, and would hate to be starting out today. Unless, a person can have a good little service business, or something such as that, in the right area.

It's left wing prppaganda on the history of the 2nd Amendment.

Try reading: "The Founders' Second Amendment, Origins of the Right to Bear Arms" by Stephen P Halbrook

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
    George Mason

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
    George Washington

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
    Richard Henry Lee

"The great object is that every man be armed." and "Everyone who is able may have a gun."
    Patrick Henry

"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."
    Thomas Jefferson

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that … it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; … "
    Thomas Jefferson

"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution."
    Thomas Jefferson

"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."
    Thomas Jefferson

"They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
    Ben Franklin

“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!” - Benjamin Franklin

The Founders of this nation understood the source of inalienable rights is never from government. When Government grants rights, government can remove those rights. They understood that self-defense is an inalienable personal right, and the Second Amendment simply assures each citizen that they have the tools necessary to defend their life, family, or property from aggression, whether from an individual or a government.

that article has leftist slant all over it. I wonder if any of it is based in fact.

c'mon put the constitution in context.
they were very fearful of a strong central govt and standing armies. They were so concerned about govt tyranny their first attempt at a central govt failed.

They were all for local rule and it was the local groups who formed up into the army... they had to have guns. Guns ensured freedom and liberty.

  7. It is obvious that it is this dbag authors intent to convince his readers that the 2nd Amendment was included only to protect slave owners. But whether this little history lesson is true and is the reason why the wording of the 2nd Amendment was changed.. the 2nd was ALREADY included in the Bill of Rights, otherwise it couldn't be changed. lol. Also, the people were allowed to keep guns before the Bill of Rights or even the Constitution was voted on.

The point is, IF Madison changed the words to get it ratified.. that simply does not in any way change the FACT, according to the Founders and the SC, that the 2nd Amendment extends an individual birthright entitling all American citizens to own firearms.

  8. before any lefty discovers it and declares all of these quotes propaganda.. that Washington quote is considered a fraud. I don't know why people have to make up shit (i know you didn't make it up), when there is so much supporting evidence anyway.

  10. Not sure about that. I'm not trying to say I think its a good idea for individuals to be armed with wmd's or anything, but where is your evidence that there were any restrictions on what individuals could or couldn't own at the time. pspr posted a good article in another thread which I just skimmed and it seems that the author has supporting evidence that private citizens owned, or had access to, the most sophisticated weaponry of the time.
