Arnold on the rise!

  1. Yes... I do have two school age children Waggie and like all citizens I am concerned about OUR state, both in the present and in the future.

How about some answers Waggie. You talk about the governor making "severe miscalculations". What EXACTLY would you have Schwarzenegger do since your pet issue is education and how would you fund it?

I should also remind you while you are extremely interesting in seeing that every Californian have the birthright to attend a UC campus, others are clamoring for more HIV money, breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all school age children, new 911 call centers, more paramedics, more money for battered women, senior programs, health care programs....the list and special interests are endless.

Do we fund them all? How exactly?

I have no problem expecting...no, DEMANDING that the state tighten it's belt and get back on it's financial feet. It costs me as a taxpayer and in many other ways, but it must be done.

I'm amazed at how you fail to see the importance of fiscal responsiblity and shared pain, but then as you point out...this is ET.

  4. If you ask any parent why they are here on this planet called Earth, it is because they want to see their children prosper and have an opportunity to grow and learn and have a better life than they did. That is an undisputed fact with any parent that I know.

Given that, I fail to see the point of some of you that are standing so "steadfast" by Gov. Schwarzenegger's latest budget cuts to the UC, which I might add has in fact had an educational mandate to give each and every qualified California high school student a UC education, since 1960.

While I do not see the billions of dollars that the Enron's and Dynegy's soaked us for several years ago coming back anytime soon . . . I would believe that a good place to raise revenue would be to start taxing Indian Casino and Gambling centers. Right now, they have a free ride in this state as opposed to New Jersey and Connecticut which take 25% of the revenues from Indian casinos.

  5. So when you talk about fiscal responsibility, I guess you are saying that you are quite happy with the fiscal restraint that George Bush has shown us in the past couple of years?

Closer to home, here's another question:

Are you saying that you will be happy to spend an "extra" $20,000 per year for your child's out-of-state college education because it's cheaper than the increase in taxes that you see coming down the pike?

    Please explain.

You clearly see it as the governments responsiblity to educate my children. I clearly see it as mine.

Kudos to you Turok. I had you pegged wrong from the start. LOL. I actually believed Waggie was a Ronald Reagan Conservative and you were some whacked out left coast liberal. I'm sorry, my bad, that's Waggie. I had you guys reversed. I'm sorry for the mix up. Won't happen again. LOL.

Wag's, it just makes you look STUPID to intimate something that you can't find a shred of evidence to support. I'll move on and pretend you didn't throw that asinine dart.

    >Are you saying that you will be happy to spend
    >an "extra" $20,000 per year for your child's

    >than the increase in taxes that you see coming

Nope I am not saying anything of the sort and the more you try to put words in my mouth the less value we both get out of the exchange.

If you want to know how I feel about it, just ask straight up without the BS.

And I'll throw you for another loop soon enough with something from the left. I'm a mix and match sort of guy that defies labels.
