You are dodging my questions. You said California is a socialist state. Would a socialist state elect a Republican? No. Would a socialist state recall Davis? No. The answer is no on both counts, so California is not a socialist state. Your statement was incorrect. Just admit it and move along to the next soapbox.
Actually technically a socialist state could elect a republican could it not? Maybe in theory you would think they would not, but this is not a communist state. Would a socialist state recall davis? Absolutely, if it was in their constitutional powers? Now realistically would they do it? Maybe, maybe not but you can't say that a socialist state would not recall Davis if they believed that recalling davis would benefit the greater good of California thereby perpetrating their socialistic ideals. Remember, people act out of self interest. If they believe Arnold will turn the state around and bring tax revenues back to California then they can elect another democrat down the road to spend that money and return the state to its socialistic glory. So no, my statement was not incorrect. Thanks for playing.
I'm not wrong. Are you saying that a state that takes a disproportionate amount of the income that you have earned and then redistributes that wealth to everyone else is not socialism? California penalizes you for being successful and then takes that money and tries to help those on the bottom. So in other words they are bringing the guys on the top down and the guys on the bottom up. That is socialism. You can deny it all you want, that's what it is.
Rogue, Waggie: I dig California. Weather, topography, the mellowness. Sort of feel like I'm Glenn Frye when I'm out there. And when I was younger the best domestic herb known to man.Plus had to dig those SoCal #'s that Reagan used to put up. Big Orange #1 GOP county in the U.S. with San Diego right up there. The Bay Area, yea too liberal for me, but ooooh, so livable. Hard to compare the "L" in Chi to the speed of BART or the quaintness of the MUNI. BUT you gotta admit, Cal's income tax is WAY over the top. How did the voters ever allow that to happen? Yes quasi-socialistic, without the perks. Afterall the palms, sun, and traffic are all free!
You are the same guy who said that Orange County was the only conservative part of California. San Diego, the 7th largest metropolitan area in the county is very conservative. It is the 6th largest county in the nation. Orange county is the 5th largest county in the nation. You don't know California, you were wrong about California being a socialist state. I don't know where you come from, but we are not black and white. If we were a socialist state, Arnold would not have been elected. Why do you have such a hard admitting you are wrong, and you don't know California better than those who live and work here?
The income tax is a tradeoff for prop 13. Without Prop 13, the tax burden percentages would be greater on homeowners and less on renters, etc. Buffett suggested repealing prop 13, and Arnold told him to put a lid on it. Prop 13 sucks, as it is part of why real estate is overpriced. The state income tax spreads out the tax to more of the population. Does California have a lot of spending? Sure, too much, and much in the wrong places. There is a lot of waste here, just like in the nation's capital. We will see if the present adminstration can cut costs. Arnold claims he will not raise taxes. We shall see.
Dude pull your head out of your ass. I did not say orange county was the only republican county in CA, I said it was the largest. And one of the largest in the nation I might add. I have been to California many times and I have countless friends that live there on both sides of the political fence. California is the closest thing we have to socialism in this nation. If I live in Florida and I make a million dollars do you know how much money I give to the state? NONE! If I make a million in California I give 120,000 to the state and for what? The schools are just as good in florida, the hospitals are just as good, the streets are just as clean and the crime is about the same, maybe a little less. It's called free hand outs. You have one big state sponsored entitlement program out there. Why should I have to pay for that? Huh? Explain to me what I get for that 120,000 that I don't get in Florida? This should be really interesting.
Too much. You live in Florida and think you know what is best for California. I doubt anyone cares how much money you make, or how much you pay in taxes. Stay in Florida, who cares? We who enjoy California don't really care where you live. We actually don't think about Florida much, why should we? We aren't interested in humidity, mosquito's, Jeb Bush, or swamp land either. And you must be limited to your fingers and toes if you think you have "countless" friends who live here. Exaggeration, exaggeration, exaggeration. Oh, and speaking of your Orange County quote here is what you said: "And Yes, outside of Orange county, California is very liberal." Link to quote: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=381747&highlight=orange#post381747 You can't even be accurate with your own quotes. With the growth of San Diego County in the past couple of years, I think you will find that San Diego County, a very conservative part of California, and the third largest county in California, is very close to overtaking Orange County in population. You don't know California. Just admit you are wrong, you will feel better telling the truth.
Too much. You live in Florida and think you know what is best for California. I did not say I lived in florida. I simply used Florida as an example. Are you always this presumptuous? I doubt anyone cares how much money you make, or how much you pay in taxes. Stay in Florida, who cares? We who enjoy California don't really care where you live. We actually don't think about Florida much, why should we? We aren't interested in humidity, mosquito's, Jeb Bush, or swamp land either. Oh, you are more interested in riots, fires, earthquakes, water droughts, traffic, blackouts, high taxes, high murder rates, and plastic surgeons in every strip mall. And you must be limited to your fingers and toes if you think you have "countless" friends who live here. I love it when you try to be witty. Yeah, I just have enough friends to use my toes and fingers. Exaggeration, exaggeration, exaggeration. Nope just the facts mam, just the facts. Oh, and speaking of your Orange County quote here is what you said: "And Yes, outside of Orange county, California is very liberal." Link to quote: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=381747&highlight=orange#post381747 I stand by that statement. Outside of Orange county, California is very liberal. I didn't say all liberal, I said very liberal. You can't even be accurate with your own quotes. I was very accurate with that quote. With the growth of San Diego County in the past couple of years, I think you will find that San Diego County, a very conservative part of California, and the third largest county in California, is very close to overtaking Orange County in population. You don't know California. Just admit you are wrong, you will feel better telling the truth. Good for San Diego. Yeah the reason San Diego is overtaking Orange county is you have 10,000 border jumpers a day pouring in. No big surprise there.
