The media did not rail against Patriot act what are you smoking. US post 9/11 was a ridiculous place where people drove with american flags and not letting the terrorists win was the biggest catchphrase.
Your right. The left railed against it (after they voted for it), and the media trumpeted their displeasure. I'm talking an 8 year period. The constant drumbeat against Bush was a check on power, and look how it worked. Now, I ask you again, where are they now? Most wouldn't even bother to cover the tea baggers, because they didn't agree with the reasons. You call that a check on power? I sure as hell don't.
The liberals are now front and center on the stage.....no cover anymore....... Obamas' tenure will either be their finest hour or a period that will be considered the end of liberalism / socialism / big government. Time will tell.
A sense of proportionality is missing from people like you. W in 2004 and Republicans in 2002&2004 elections won by saying they will be "tougher on terrorism", a laughable concept that was even tried to be implemented on certain level by John McCain. Obama&democrats won by promising change. You can laugh at change and hope all you want but it is a lot better than fear mongering and "terrorists will win if the other guy gets elected" Obama so far has pushed certain legislation that a duly elected congress passed. I don't see claims that if you disagree with the president you let the terrorists win.
People like you are people who think media is in love with obama to the point of complete subservience.
This Republican Party Meltdown is brought to you by the absolute incompetence of the Bush/Cheney Years.
Yes, I agree with that for the most part. Not all media, but do you deny that media is quite one sided? We know FOX is biased, but are the others unbiased? I don't see such evidence. Have they questioned any of the trillions that are being spent? Have they questioned anything? I have even seen applause at press conferences. That's spooky, at least to me. I am not concerned with the Bush years, and in my post I didn't mention that. You brought up the patriot act, which had 98 yes votes in the Senate. My post was about checks on power that no longer exist, in my opinion. The supermajority was not duly elected. It was obtained by a senator switching sides.
