Looking at local WiFi I see several NEST thermostats with open wifi access. The public isn't ready for this technology. Manufacturers should sell these devices with the access already locked down.
My neighbor has an LG refrigerator with WiFi that they never used or configured. I was thinking of linking up and changing their freezer/frig temp up & down for amusement but I held myself back. Finally I went over there, explained the problem (they are in their 80s), and disabled the WiFi on the frig for them.
It is a newer, "braver" world. And we're going to shit because of it, as the generational gap is getting wider between those who understand, and those who wish to teach, faster than it ever has. Moore's law is to blame, because people cannot mature as quickly (double in power), as tech can double in power.
