I agree with the seintment of the OP -- though I would say "I am sick of noisy charts" and as a result of simplifying my screens tremendously, have become a much better and more confident trader.

I still do TA but it's certainly not "analysis paralysis" and something I can quickly see what's happening and decide on a course of action.

...In that Empire, the craft of Cartography attained such Perfection that the Map of a Single province covered the space of an entire City, and the Map of the Empire itself an entire Province. In the course of Time, these Extensive maps were found somehow wanting, and so the College of Cartographers evolved a Map of the Empire that was of the same Scale as the Empire and that coincided with it point for point. Less attentive to the Study of Cartography, succeeding Generations came to judge a map of such Magnitude cumbersome, and, not without Irreverence, they abandoned it to the Rigours of sun and Rain. In the western Deserts, tattered Fragments of the Map are still to be found, Sheltering an occasional Beast or beggar; in the whole Nation, no other relic is left of the Discipline of Geography.

  5. while overly wordy and verbose, as usual---- he does have a point here--but is only scratching the REAL TRUTH

however, its FAR BEYOND THE DATA VENDOR marketing charts.

THE MARKET ITSELF PUSHES TA since it is seductive and the EASIEST WAY for the market machine to take your MONEY.

You TA people have DRANK THE KOOLAID OF THE MARKET! why would you listen to the VERY PEOPLE trying to take your money???

    STUPID FOOLS!

TA works, but not utilizing the most widely followed indications. The market is always out to inflict the most pain, so if everybody is following the most obvious trendline, it is doomed to get violated.

I found internal trendlines work very well, along with some Gann stuff I found. Fib still works well, especially the projections. Support and resistance levels are timeless.

For moving average, I plot both simple and exponential on the same chart. Sometimes the 20 day SMA is blown out, but the 20 EMA holds, sometimes the opposite, depending on the market.

Of course, the best question to ask yourself is "where are the stops"? The newbs put all their stops in the same places, so you know they will be targeted. This will produce many false breakouts, and is very tradeable at lower risk.

I think one can be a firm believer in TA and be a winning trader, but you have to be flexible and think out of the box, to use an old worn out cliche. Know thy enemy and catch a ride on their back.

I think AmbienCR is saying the same thing, but much more eloquently. :p

  7. Statistical analysis is much more effective than technical analysis.

  8. Of course you fool, NO ONE is proclaiming TA "as packaged" in it's nice little box is the ONLY thing out there that is TA.

You want to constantly bash and bash because you think TA is very narrow in it's scope when in fact it's the EXACT OPPOSITE.

Expand your mind and lay off the sleep meds, that's probably what is causing your brain to malfunction in the first place :p

No Indicators for me. Only price-charts with trendlines, and S/R-lines (actually I draw lines between every top and bottom).
